My Apacer card reader just died and its replacement doesn't read smart media cards.

Does anyone know if there's an adapter available (in NZ?) that might work in conjunction
with the slots it does have - or any other solution ?

Thanks, ADKM

Cheers - Kirk

Smart media is a blast from the past. If you look for multi slot ones that do xD they will often have smart media as well, but not bother advertising it in the specs too much.

Hi ADKM,

You can get a different card reader from here: http://www.playtech.co.nz/afawcs0139235/CATID=/ID=17626/SID=59407471/productdetails.html

It has the Smart Media Slot you are looking for and it just plugs into your computer via USB so can be used on a Laptop or a Desktop.

Cheers,
Simple Computers

Thanks - but it needs to fit into a 3.5" bay.

Gee, wish I'd seen that before I bought something else. I got one of TradeMe that reads everything except
SmartMedia, so I was hoping I could find a cheap adapter SM- to one of the other slots. You haven't seen anything like that have you?

Regards, ADKM

Unfortunately no I have not seen anything like that around although I thought there would be something like that out there but it would seem not.
