Hi all

I thought I would share my experience of the Nokia Lumia 920 (red) from Telecom and to see if anyone else has this issue and if so what have you do if anything to resolve it

Anyway I bought the Nokia Lumia 920 (red) the day it was release by Telecom NZ, overall I love the phone, moving from an iPhone I like the OS and the size of the phone is to my liking, also the battery lasts longer than the iPhone 5 (I know this as my wife has an iPhone 5 and we both had a full charge left our phones on over the weekend when we went away and when we came back after 2 days my phone had life, hers was dead)

What I have noticed with my phone is that the screen flickers (like a low refresh rate). I notice it the most on the Xbox Game screen (the grey white background flickers). This is very noticeable if I change the screen brightness from automatic to High. I have done a hard reset, changed setting but still have this issue. I took it into the Telecom Store and they said they cannot notice the flicker, even though everyone at work and my wife can see it. Telecom did give me the option to have it sent in to be looked at, but before I do this I want to post here to see if this is a hardware issue/ Firmware or what? And to see if anyone else has this

Any advice?

Thank you

Hello,

I have exact the same problem with my lumia 920!! (red too :P). In my case the flickering changes by the time, sometimes it's not that bad. I tried a hard reset, and it helped for a while but then it came back.

My guess is that the problem is in the software. I will try different firmware today, i can tell if that helped.

Glad to hear that I am not alone, sorry to hear that you have this problem
I tried changing settings as suggested in some of the above links, but this does not work, like you said it gets better sometimes, hopefully it is software related.
I easiest way to check is to turn your brightness to High then open your Xbox Game screen and look at the background.

Let me know how to get on with the new firmware

I didn't get the new firmware to work Embarassed, so i'll be wating for portico update to arrive in february.
If it doesn't fix the screen problem, i'll take my phone to nokia care service.

Will report if it helps. Heads up!Tongue Out

Ooo is this a problem with red ones then?

I'm about to ship my red one back to Dubai for warranty purposes because I have screen flicker as well. Was waiting until they had their stock levels under control so it wasn't a huge wait.

My flicker problem comes and goes, but for me it's about 25% of the full vertical lines of pixels on the screen going bright then dull at a rate of about 30fps. I find it's most noticeable when I load internet explorer with a blank tab, then hit the address bar to input. However, when it's flickering badly, you can see it really easily no matter what screen is showing. The worst cluster of vertical lines on my screen is about 2cm in from the left.

I did find that when it was really bad, it would be back just the same after restarting the phone, however, it didn't do it on the Windows Phone boot screen. Hoping that maybe it could be resolved with software.

I have a black telecom one and my one does this sometimes as well.

Normally I need to switch it on in the sun (I have auto brightness on) and its like an old CRT monitor running at a low refresh rate. It normally clears up after a few seconds of being on so it's never worried me.

Red here, same problem! Flickers quite noticeable when I open IE, Facebook. Hopefully can be fixed in FW updates.....
