My girlfriend has the typical problem that many never-played-a-game-before people have of the controls, even for relatively basic games, just being too much to wrap their head\fingers around.

So, what're fun games that I might be able to get the girlfriend into? Something we can both play would be a bonus, and the cheaper the better obviously. PS3 or Xbox360 ideally. I've got the Move & Kinect peripherals as well FWIW. I know there's plenty of Kinect/Move games but they're mostly pretty gimmicky.

She does like Tetris, so I might try getting her into Lumines. :)

World of Goo!

Edit: Not sure if it's on consoles but it's a fun puzzler...

Little Big Planet, Singstar

Guessing you already have Kinect adventures?

Only prob with LBP is you'll need to let her get the points at times. Till she gets better at the game, then you can battle it out

It's PC only, but I'd definitely recommend Shockwave Unlimited.

Not popular with your traditional Xbox/PS3 type, but girls certainly like them.

My fiance loves the Lego game series. Mainly Harry Potter, but she's into those stories as well as the games so that might help. But generally they're fun and funny games to play, and EASY controls!

Chainsaw Lollipop.... It's a story about a girl who empowers herself with a Chainsaw to save herself and her boyfriend (whom she's convienently chopped down to just his head) from the zombie hordes.

Or as I am not a girl you could try games that my daughter likes she's 14 and plays Forza Motorsport, Halo Reach and very occasionally her Dance Central 2 on Kinect.

House of the Dead or Time Crisis. Point, shoot, reload. Can't get much simpler than that.

Got my wife into oblivion, now she loves Skyrim, And yest the controls were very very hard for her to learn(she use to move in straight lines turn 90 deg then straight again, but she got better), but luckely in the options you can crank the difficulty right down so she never died. But she was quite into middle earth style books and movies.

And the most importand factor for her was her character had to be female, she doesnt like a game if she has to be a boy.

Dance central franchise. You'll need a Kinect for it, but believe me it'll worth it if your girl likes to dance or clubing.

Plus it makes a hell of a good party game as well.

Why not just make a list of the games you would like to play with her and let her read up on them then choose which one interests her most?

I almost didn't respond to this because the thread title is really off-putting. "Girls" play every game around. An appropriate game to get anyone started with gaming depends on the person's interests, their comfort-level with using consoles or PC's, and their interest in games period. Some games have themes that put some women off playing them (I'm not interested in lining the pockets of games developers who include blatant sexism or violence towards women, for example). Some women won't play RPG's if they cannot play in a female role, some men won't play as females. It's all down to personal interests/choice. The suitability of any game has little to nothing to do with the gender of the gamer.
