Hi if anyone is interested, I can do a RROD repair for your xbox 360 for $70, currently on 100% success rate (might have jinxed myself for saying that!) I have fixed both the 1 Ring of death and the 3 rings of death. This includes: * opening case with proper xbox tools and not leaving any cosmetic damage * remove xclamps * Cleaning and polishing CPU/GPU with official artic products * genuine artic silver thermal application on all 3 processor units before reattaching heatsinks (not the cheap thermal paste they sell on TM) * solder reflow and reset process * internal case clean to remove dust * if you have previously done repairs to fix the a RROD and it has happened again then I can also fit whisper max aftermarket cooling system (12 volt fan as opposed to standard 5v) for an extra $50 which decreases your internal temp by around 10 degrees and will pretty much ensure it doesn't happen again. $20 fee if I can't fix it. (covers materials or depending on condition may accept your dead xbox as payment) auckland based. PM me!

Microsoft does RROD repairs for free under warranty - even if your warranty has expired. You just need to contact them, send them your Xbox and wait a couple of weeks for it to come back.

This is wrong, if your xbox is older than 3 years they will charge you for the repair regardless. the "free RROD repair" was MS increasing the warranty period from 1 year to 3 years for all consoles due to the number failing outside their warranty period Just for the E74 error. If your warranty sticker has been removed (because you have patched or modded your console etc) you will be charged for the repair, if you bought it second hand you don't have a warranty either. please do some research before posting incorrect information. http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/xbox360/hardware/warranty/warranty/ProductWarrantyNew.aspx Notes from above link: * One Year Express Warranty on Console (Three Years for Three Lights Flashing Red). I have sent many Xbox's brought of trademe back for RROD repair, and Xbox's are covered under the Consumers Guaranty act IIRC Consumer said they should last for 5years without fault so you could dispute it after the 3 years RROD warranty expires. Professional IT Solutions at an Affordable Price.

lol. Xbox was launched in NZ in 2007 so even if you have the launch model, your RROD is covered till 2010. If you buy an xbox from trademe, it's also covered with RROD. I have sent numerous xbox to be fixed for rrod while I was working in retail. Microsoft never checks reciept. They simply ask for the serial number and your address. If your xbox is modded and you get rrod, it will still be fixed by microsoft. I have done this numerours time. Modding has got nothing to do with rrod. their techies in australia don't seem to care about the warranty sticker at all. Microsoft\|Outlook\|Skydrive\|Windows Live Admin Center\|Skype\|Office Web Apps\|Office 365\| Windows Phone\|Windows 8\|Xbox\|Hyper-V\|Office2013\|Bing\|Security Essentials\|Server 2012

Its not microsoft you would be disputing with? it is the retailer you brought it off, and never in my experiance where I have had to argue the CGA has it resulted in court action. Just merly getting past the sale staff and speaking to a manager. and yes, I've sent away 2 Firmware Flashed 360's and they have come back repaired under warrenty. I am offering a RROD repair service I am not the consumer guarantees department. I honestly don't care what your OPINION is.... and I should also point out I have consoles here with a manufacturer date of 2005. although I know by saying this im sure I will get 3 more messages telling me it can't be so. The terms say you shouldn't get a free fix by doing the above mentioned, if you still do get a free fix, good on you, if you don't then either pay MS 180 to do it or PM me. I won't be replying to anymore nonsense

I did not tell you anything. I told the members of this site, that they don't have to waste $$$ sending it out to third party repair agents when their product is still covered under the warranty. I just wanted to add that if you don't want to "wait a couple of weeks for it to come back", like me, and decide to use kdn's repair service, I can recommend him. Fast, reliable, and (for me at least) good value.

My son has an Xbox 360 with a dodgy DVD drive - it can take up to 10 reboots before any game disk is recognised and able to be played. Tried cleaning it with those DVD cleaner disks with the little brushes in it - helped a little bit - down to about 8 reboots. Not limited to any particular game disk. Is this repairable ? perhaps also covered in the CGA ? be gentle, I'm a n00b on the console stuff ....

How old is the console? If it's more than 2 years old then DVD drives generally cannot be claimed under the CGA because the laser does have a life. If it's less than 1.5 years old then you have a good chance with CGA. I would imagine this would be covered, as a 400-600 console should last more than 2 years imo should be closer to 4 Professional IT Solutions at an Affordable Price.

just checked the manufacturing date - 17th march 2006, or 2006-03-17 as per label. Getting close to 4 years ... probably worth a crack, .... Nigel .

I would still try it, a 4 years ago the consoles were quite pricey e.g $600 + so I would expect a $600 item to last 5years IMO Professional IT Solutions at an Affordable Price.
