Sounds good... Just installed a ATI card on my desktop, to lift the game (no pun intended) instead of using the built-in AMD HD3000. Much better now, even playing some L4D2 and Borderlands lately, so might check what's in store.

Nothing has appealed so far (but I already own most of the games that go on sale).

I have to say that some of those packs are great value for money, the Warner Brothers one, Bethesda, id, Valve... I already own most the games in each but if you had just bought a PC and were looking for a game to buy, man you get some great value there.

I always try and convince people to join Steam and buy these games but they don't realise how good these deals are.

I wonder how many people mistakenly buy modern warfare 2 today thinking its the latest. Whats more how can they justify $49usd for it!

Im even more outraged after checking mightyapes price, $89!!. its a 2 year old game going for the price of a new game. It should be $30-40 at best.

Back on topic! I still have games from last years xmas sale i havn't played.. Theres nothing out at the moment i want to buy, apart from Anno2070 but its only just been released so im not expecting a sale on it. It is a great time of year to stock up on games, some people spend hundreds!

I got Defense Grid the Awakening and also installed Spiral Knights (free though they want you to pay to get credits to extend the game) to get the Gift Pile achievement and got a lump of coal :-(

So I have three fairly sad coupons and a lump of coal in my steam gift pile. I'm going to try and get the DG achievement.

Picked up all the Batman Arkham City DLC for about US$10. A while ago I was lucky enough to preorder Arkham City for US$39 when Steam seemed to have forgotten about regional pricing because it went up to $99 soon after. I'm sure that was a mistake on their part.

Even though I own a lot of games I still keep a lookout because the DLC also tends to be on sale at the same time, always a good time to collect it all during these sales.

I'm busy collecting coal for the prize draw, the vouchers I've won so far are pretty uninteresting.

I'm a bit old-school and have typically been a fan of wanting to have some physical media in my hands but decided to venture down into the world of Steam. Pretty impressed so far... it just works.
Started off downloading and installing a demo of some puzzle game which worked fine, then today made my first purchase. Train Simulator 2012 for US$3.49. Sellers on TradeMe are asking NZ$60 for it. It came down at an impresssive 1.3MB/s which is pretty much my linespeed (TelstraClear ADSL, does this mean it likely came off one of their 'mirrors'?). The game installed itself and again, it just works.

Batman Arkham City, Portal 2 and Warhammer 40K Space Marine purchased (well Batman and Space Marine gifted from a mate in the US to avoid the regional pricing difference) so far, thinking about Rage.

For Rage, more regional pricing insanity from the particular publisher (Bethseda)...

$15 USD for US
http://store.steampowered.com/app/9200/?cc=US

$45 USD in NZ
http://store.steampowered.com/app/9200/?cc=NZ

Another one I will be getting a mate in the US to gift me while I transfer some money to his NZ account via online banking.

I gave in and picked up Skyrim this morning while it was still 33% off, the decision based solely on the hype, critic reviews and player response.
I had played Oblivion but honestly thought it was good but a bit overrated. Hopefully Skyrim will convert me?

I'm a bit surprised at the small install size at 5.8gb for Skyrim. Batman: AC was around 18gb I think.

If Skyrim is as good as everyone says then bye bye spare time!  :)
