Hi to all,
I am currently updating my VoIP box to Elastix 2.3 from 1.6 and upon trying to register the VfX trunks it fails. I am using the exact same settings as the old machine. Does anyone know what has changed between versions? Here is my current setting...

username=XXXX
type=peer
secret=XXXX
regseconds=180
registertimeout=20
port=5060
host=pan.wxnz.net
dtmfmode=rfc2833
disallow=all
allow=g729&ulaw&alaw

USER Context : my phone nr without zero

username=XXXX
type=peer
secret=XXXXX
nat=yes
insecure=invite,port
host=pan.wxnz.net
fromuser=my phone nr without zero
context=from-trunk
canreinvite=no

Registrtation string : phonenr:XXXX:XXXX@pan.wxnz.net/phonenr

Thank you in advance for the excellent help I have always got in this forum! :)
Chris

You don't need both trunk and user fields - just leave the data in the trunk field.

There was also a small gripe with FreePBX at one stage that needed disallow at the top of the entry field, no idea if this still is the case because I always have it at the top anyway.

Sometimes when changing open VFX hardware / setup, the old config can be stuck registered. Leave off overnight and see if it kicks in tomorrow.

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their ADSL broadband network faster. Why not spend a couple of hundred to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?
Geekzone special price: $150* for master splitter install, normally $200+ through your ISP. Auckland and Waikato areas.

@sbiddle... I have used this configuration on the server for almost two years now, so I don't think that will solve it... I will give it a go though...
@coffeebaron I have two VfX numbers and registered one with a softphone (the one I needed to keep active while playing around with the new server) and was trying to register the other on the server. The softphone worked immediately, but the Elastix didn't.

I will try playing around a bit more with the settings, thank you both for your replies...

Sorted...
I needed to change type=peer to type=user and it now works. Oh, and to make it clear, I had registered the trunk, I only couldn't get incoming calls, although outgoing worked fine...
I am no Asterisk expert, so can someone roughly please explain why this is happening?

And I also deleted the stuff in the user field, made no difference, thanks @sbiddle for making it simpler ;)

OK,
I THOUGHT it was sorted. As soon as I changed to type=user I lost the ability to make calls from the trunk...
So no it is either type=peer and I can make calls but not receive, or type=user and I can receive but not make calls!

Any help greatly appreciated.. :)
