Unfortunately, it looks like this... 

1.5 year ago I would be extremely happy to see these plans, honestly. 


I have to completely agree with this. I've been on the same torrent plan for 4-5 years.

well I rang up Xnet last night; switched to the new plan - done and dusted in a couple of minutes. Thanks Xnet! Happy as Larry!

From what I've heard WxC pushed Chorus to do something about pricing to align things better before the complex job of migrating these areas to UFB occurs.

This is a mystery. What is the reason to reduce price, if BOF will be not available and replaced by UFB? Only  if you are going to keep BOF and you have to compete with UFB...

No doubt, something happens on background of fibre market, but it's hidden from customers.

BoF and UFB?


We are currently trialing UFB, but not actively selling it at this point.  These plans are for our current BoF services. 




So I still have a problem as have UFB fibre outside my house and still I can't get UFB from World exchange.

When will this be available as have just about finished a renovation at my house and have the house all cabled to allow fibre to be connected.
So still have limited choices to get ufb fibre.

Am happy to be a trial site Wink

Apart from that i would change from normal fusion plan.

Maybe someone from World Exchange might like to comment on when and what will be offered for UFB

Say what? Its no mystery!!

If they don't attempt to lower the pricing theres only one other option, pull out completely "sorry Chorus we don't want to be your provider over BoF equipment anymore.. bye all BoF fibre option hopefulls!" ERR WRONG. If you already have a foot in the door, you keep it. They would look worse than they do in your eyes already if they ditched all current connections on it and refused to provide any more (since noone else can) until the areas were upgraded wouldn't they.

Its different hardware and networking, and XNet are the chosen provider by Chorus, to use their equipment.. and have quite likely have to pay a few parties including chorus to use it. For all we know even though these plans are cheaper than the previous 2 options, they could very well be supplying it to fibresubdivisions at a loss until they are changed.. you can't blame them for that. They are still at least trying to provide a service.

Actually this may suit me if your serious , if you are pm me please if you are, UFB has a lot of problems around who is going to pay for what so really until they sort this not fully committed to this, but possibly looking for a couple of trial customers

No, it's not the answer.

No, it's not the answer.

And yes, that is the answer. Infact its NZ Law. They aren't as large as Xtra, and can't afford a 2bn law suit for monopilising if there are other 'equivalent' options cheaper (albeit not directly available)

It also makes it illegal for companies to abuse a dominant market position


UFB is new and not nationwide and fully implimented. Like other ISPs are monitoring their options and are not going to be left for dead as you seem to think/imply (read 2 posts up!)

Maverick - When you say these new ones are non contractual..

Does that mean only the Install cost is required for new installs into Existing FTTH SDs and no signup? (was under impression neighbour who just moved out to same location had to sign up for a fixed period a month ago)

We're not due to move into one till Mid Mar/April so anything could happen between but keeping eyes on things :)

2 minutes and 34 seconds after listening to Crowded House hold music for all of 15 seconds, and talking to a lovely lady who was curious as to how I knew about the new plans, I'm on a new Fusion 40 plan as of tomorrow. Yay!
