Well I guess my usage meter is working properly...to well now i think...

Was stuck...then added 1%...2%....then jumped 20% 30%....until it finally hit 89%

For the last 3-4 days...has been in that area...only going up 1% at a time...I thought it had finally caught up...

I was wrong, so wrong.

Its just jumped today to 120%....right now 150%

Ummm....so I guess that means during the meter being down, I got alota free bandwidth?

What I do notice though....Maverick, can you answer this:
The 'Cost to date' on my usage meter says $57.97.....
Yet I choose 'Managed Data Usage', with $50 maximum...so the maximum I should pay no matter what is $50 is it not?

I can answer this one - the usage meter will reflect what you'll pay if you uncap the service.

If you have a maximum cost of $50 set you will not be charged more than this figure (unless you choose to uncap yourself).

Shivers meter just leapt up another 20% yesterday, in excess of what I actually used over the last couple of days.  So it's actually 16 days (and counting).  Will definitely keep my own records next time this happens! (didn't think I'd used that much while meter was down ... easy to underestimate obviously)

The meter is now fully up to date.

There should be no more data jumping going on and it should be a smooth ride from this point on.  I think a number have people have gone a little overboard this month without the usual visibility - also thinking data may have not been monitored.

Ah well, good stress testing for the new network :)

Have you guys thought of doing some special "off peak" deals for data? Just a thought to help spread the data load of your network more evenly. Maybe you could try a half price off peak data deal til the end of the year and see how it goes? I'm sure many of the heavy down-loaders would jump at the chance of being able to download up to twice their usual data by downloading say mid-night to 6am or something like that?

Anyways, slightly OT, so maybe start another thread if there are more ideas on this one.

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their ADSL broadband network faster. Why not spend a couple of hundred to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?
Geekzone special price: $150* for master splitter install, normally $200+ through your ISP. Auckland and Waikato areas.
*Travel charges may apply. Additional costs may apply for complex installs.
I install - Naked DSL, DSL Master Splitters, VoIP, RBI Rural Broadband. Also a dealer for WorldxChange.

The answer to this question is Yes we have been looking at this type of option/deal.

The following is from our Marketing team.

__________
We have given it much consideration and it is something that we may roll out second quarter of next year. As part of the network enhancements recently deployed, we readied ourselves for these types of packages.

In line with the other user access, account management and on-line call records projects that are underway here at WxC, we are keen to support this type of arrangement. You are right, encouraging users to conduct their heavy download activity at night by making it cheaper will have a very positive impact.

Certainly if more users would set their torrent download profiles to go for it at night and limit the speed during the day, everybody would get a better experience and Xnet can continue to focus on the best possible service at the best possible price.
__________

Interesting times ahead :)

ummm, my usage monitor seems to be on the fritz again...
is it the same issue again?
it doesn't look quite the same, as usage hasn't just stopped accumulating - it's reset to 0.00GB and doesn't seem to be going up at all.

cheers,
jeff

Just reported the issue to the Operations team & they are investigating.  Don't think it's in any way related to last months usage monitor issues.
