Well here it is
There has been a lot of speculation / guessing as well as comparisons being done on Naked DSL pricing, which is leading to a lot of confusion about what we will be offering, we did give the indication about 4 Months ago that the pricing would be around $69.95 but that was subject to the final pricing determination from the Commerce Commission due out later this month, the delays have been in releasing a commercial product have been
  1. The determined price from the ComCom (Still not released yet)
  2. Provisioning Issues with Telecom as they fine tune the backend process so conversions and installations are as transparent to the subscriber as possible.
To this end unless there is a major change contained in the ComCom pricing WxC’s Naked DSL offering will be a single Plan for $69.95,  Number porting is available at a one off cost of $17.95.  Our product will be called Xnet Fusion and is simply a standalone Broadband Internet connection without you having to purchase an old fashion telephone line. This is a FS / FS Internet Plan – Data is $1 per Gigabyte and you only pay for what you use.Local and voice traffic usage is not measured or billed as part of the Internet charges Single VFX Line with all the standard VFX services - Voicemail- Voicemail to Email- Call Forwarding Options- Call Waiting- CLI- DND- Anonymous Call Rejection- Three Way Calling- Voice Portal for Controlling Services- And more  Some folks have asked questions regarding power and line outages. Xnet VFX has disaster recovery functionality that allows the customer to have their inbound calls routed to any other number in the world if access is unavailable. Most people opt to send calls to their mobile. We have a number of users that take their ATA on the road with them when traveling so that they effectively have their home/work phone with them wherever they go. I am even aware of one industry customer that forwards his mobile to his land line when traveling overseas in order to avoid roaming charges and only have one voice mail service to manage.  Detailed telephone info located here http://www.xnet.co.nz/vfx/features.shtml
We will update this thread when we have more info to give i.e availabilty date Wink

Nice - I reckon I could save around $20/ month with this service, while still enjoying the fab WxC service!

Cheers, Stevo

Great to Hear Steve

Is this just a saving in your access charges or did you factor in your call savings as well ?

I can see a large market developing for residential VoIP installations. Obviously people want their existing phones to continute to work the way they did before.

Maybe Phil could tell us if they have any plans to offer customised installation or partner with a company to do this? It could be a new business opportunity for somebody if they're not!

Phil,

What is classed as local traffic? Just traffic to your servers (i.e. e-mail, VFX etc)

Hiya.....  Question for Xnet/WxC...

Why a single plan?  Why not other plans, such as

FS/FS                  $70
FS/128kbps          $55

FS/256kbps          $60
2Mbps/512kbps    $60

Otherwise, a user like me, using a FS/128kbps (20gb) River plan, am paying currently $41+$34+$20 = $95...

With the new "Xnet Fusion" at $70 + $20 for data, that's $90...  It means I'm getting a saving of only $5, plus full speed upload?  But then, I also lose 1 telephone line?  Doesn't make it that attractive then.....

You have to remember that these lower speeds were originally created by Telecom in about 2001 as a means of restricting the amount of data that people could download through their connection, and hence ease the load on their backhaul.  Before that, all ADSL lines ran at the full speed they were capable of.

With the advent of Naked DSL, it is good to see that once again, customers will be able to get the full bandwidth that their line is capable of.  For a difference of only $10 or so, why would you want anything less?
