You will only be charge the standard 'one off' number porting fee of $17.50 plus GST and that will appear on your WxC invoice.

You guys keep saying that, but I rang WxC a couple of days ago to port my telecom number across (while connecting to Fusion), only to be told that there would be a ~$50 charge from telecom to do so!  I know that what telecom charge is not anything you can control, but this should be pointed out to prospective number porters as a possibility because it's a significant cost!  I decided against porting my number due to this charge.

hi

Could you confrim what I just got told an hour ago by a xnet guy, that you can't port my telstraclear number to my vfx account.

Just not sure if

>On the issue of subscribers that have their line rental with another carrier.
>Moving that type of customers did not get tested in the original provisioning trials.

is talking about dsl setups or also those of us on phone and cable with telstraclear.

coz the vfx faq makes it all sound so easy :)

cheers

Hi Pete,

Naked DSL relates to the Copper Line and Its for DSL, if your on Cable no problem, your just doing a standard number Port which is no problem

This initial post contradicts the sales people at xnet (i called today...).   THey said there is a 22.50 inc gst charge for customer link  plus the ~$19.something for the number port.

This is all excellent news!  I wanted to sing up for Fusion and port my Telecom number across, but it was still a little confusing for me, so I decided to give Xnet one more last call before I called Telecom to do the number linking thing.

So I rang Xnet a couple of days ago, and was advised due to the long queue for Fusion, one of your sales rep will contact me, but there's a couple of days' wait.  So, I'm still waiting for the call from Xnet, but at least now I know I should need to do the customlinking part myself..

Hi Brian,

Okay you shouldn't have been told this, what we are doing in inconjuction with the number porting is that due to the processes at Telecom we have to apply a temp customer link on your old number for a few days, now if we do this as part of the Fusion / Number port process there is no number link charge however we have to arrange this not you....So big note here we have to arrange this not you to ensure there is no charge.

If there were orders in process already or you as the customer have already arranged a custom link with Telecom then yes there will be a Telecom charge of 22.50.

If you PM your phone number and the time you called in we will track the call and take and look and see where there was confusion in the information supplied.

Sorry for the confusion, these issues that have shown up have caused confusion for all and we are working to try and streamline the process, some of the backend process at Telecom are making this hard but they too are working to resolve these issue.

Waiting for the Fusion after the number porting is longer than I expected, not sure this is the correct way of doing this, I know WXC is organising number porting now which is great.

These are the steps I took to get

- I had WXC stream and VFX on my line.
- Subscribed to Fusion and requested to Port my numbers.
- I have disconnected my TCNZ last Thursday  17th Jan and request TCNZ to hold my number at the exchange for porting.
- Received my VFX account details this morning (25th Jan) with my new Phone number which is ported through to WXC.
- My DSL modem failed to connect (No Internet) so rang WXC helpdesk, I have been told I have to wait another 5 days (Till 1st  Feb) for the Fusion.

My Question is.......

- If the number is already ported so  its a matter of enabling broadband (Fusion) on this line isn't it?

- TCNZ delaying the Broadband?

- This is my home line can allow phone/Internet downtime etc, what if I decided to move my Business lines across to WXC?

- Allow 2 or more weeks downtime is expected?

The one problem here Shash, Is that you cancelled your line with TCNZ so as soon as you do that all the services go with it, Internet included. Your scheduled move to Fusion would have been on the 1st of Feb, if you had not cancelled this line the downtime would have only have been a few hours.

Okay Thanks Phil, The TCNZ line has to go down for number porting at some stage isn't it? All services has to go down anyway.

My point here is WXC has to look at customer's request....

1) This customer wanted FUSION on his/her line
2) This customer also wanted TCNZ line numbers to be ported.

and work towards the customer’s request with minimum disruption to service.  When I read post here that says the Fusion will be enabled within 3- 4 days time, of course Fusion means you are getting new WXC phone number (or porting your TCNZ numbers).  I believe majority of the customers want Fusion with TCNZ number ported through to WXC.

I can see your prompt responses here ... appreciate your commitment here but, its god to have detailed information available to customers that comes with many different requests and scenarios.

In my case I may have done better ( if there is one) if I have this info available to me.
This is also good that I have done a practice run on my home line before doing this to my business lines.Yes I’m in the planning stage to move my Business lines to WXC once all this goes through. I can understand these are teething issues for WXC hopefully all this will resolved in the long run.
Cheers

This is where you went wrong, WxC is supposed to give that instruction when everything is in place for a quick switchover.

The problem with having to wait a few (working) days is probably due to the current limit of only 50 signups per ISP per day, which is also discussed a few times on this forum.  It is a temporary limit and will be lifted as soon as the processes are sorted.

I wish this info is officially available to me, there is no info available on WXC website and WXC Sales team only concentrate on Recording the conversations rather than looking at the big picture what customer wants.

1)
Okay we are porting this customer’s number today....

2)
Let us be proactive and schedule the Broadband to be enabled (on the same day) and include him/her one of the 50 signups.

Okay this isn't quite about the number porting but anyway...

As far as I can tell everything has been switched over to the Fusion plan.  However I just wanted to clarify what is going on...  We no longer have our phone number (which is fine - we didn't want the porting) but we still have use of the landline and can call out (if you call a cellphone it shows up on caller id as no number).  Does that mean the phone is still in the process of being disconnected??  And just to make absolutely, postively sure - do I need to contact Telecom at all or will they stop billing me from whenever I changed to Naked?

Thanks!!!

Investigating this one with Telecom Wholesale as per our conversation on the phone, very odd indeed.

Actually, that's interesting...

My homeline has been disconnected too. My VFX has been active for quite some time now but there appears to be no "customer link" set up. If I call my original number, which is to be ported, I get "this number is disconnected" type of notification.

I was under the impression Xnet was going to organise all the necessary steps in porting the number across?
