Hi Guys

Just wondering if anyone has had issues with being on a call (I'm with xnet the other person is standard phone) and randomly throughout the call I cannot hear them talking but the other person can hear me fine.

I thought it could be the phone as it was old but purchased a new one last week and have still had the same problem.

Thought I would check to see if there is an easy fix before getting xnet to look into it.

Cheers
K

There are a range of possible reasons for this. Common reasons;
- router / firewall
- P2P in the background
- faulty handset
- DSL issues.

You need to note down some specific call samples: date + time & number called (to/from). Try get a couple of off peak (daytime) and on peak (evening) call samples. Log a fault with this info with help-desk.

Cheers Guys

Well I'm not running any p2p and replaced the handset so those 2 are ruled out. Will have a look at firewall settings (anything in particular that might be causing it?) I'll also check the QOS settings and maybe reset. Will also start getting some stats and goto xnet later in the week.

Does not sound good since you have had it since getting ninjabear have you looked into the problem or just always made new call? I'm presuming that fixes the issue?

It's been going on for a while (I dont think since 1st got the service but never used it much back then) now may start getting few business calls coming through and need to rectify the problem.

What type of ADSL router & VFX hardware do you have? Please describe your general setup.

I've got a DLink RTA1335 into WRP400 with phone off that.

Pretty basic setup nothing out of the ordinary except port forwarding for webserver that gets stuff all use.

Do you have the RTA1335 setup in either half bridge mode, or DMZ mode for the WRP400?

Have a look at the line up count for the RTA1335 (under status / ADSL). Check this over a day or so and make sure it is not going up. This will indicate DSL dropping out.

Post a few line stats of your ADSL connection - line attenuation / noise margins / up/dn sync speeds.

Used to have half bridge but had major issues so removed that. Not setup with DMZ from memory. I've been flat stick lately so have not had another chance to look into this more.

Since I last posted the phone I think has been going fine.

Will try and look at settings tomorrow and do some tests over the next week.

Had the exact same problem with a dynalink rta1320 and wrp400. Replaced them with a linksys am310 all problems went away. I tried 3 different modems all types of forwarding, dmz, half-bridge mode etc etc nothing fixed it till i got the AM 310.

I sent my wrp400 away to get replaced but unsure if it is actually faulty as a few people seem to be having these issues.
