Thank god. I thought I had blown something by plugging in a dodgy/faulty cordless phone from 1999. Logic totally went out the window there.

In the meantime I can MSN with my XT modem, so you can all breathe easy.

A client of mine on naked DSL is also down (based in Albany).

Still no update on the Network Status page.

No offence to xnet, but I think their network status page usually only shows the major network problems after they've been resolved.. the best place to find out if theres an outage is to check geekzone I reckon.

I wish I hadnt used ISP email as my main address for years. I will have to make the transition to gmail soon, so I can be ISP independant. :(

I must've been still down around 6am this morning, as the scheduled tasks I had running on a client's system on Xnet all failed.

Anyone have any idea what time it came back up again?

Mine was working in Pakuranga, Auckland at 6:40. Never knew it went down.

The real PITA about being on Fusion / naked DSL is no landline so you can't even use the dialup service.

MAJOR annoyance that.

It's reassuring at least to be able to check xnet's homepage for the network status at such times.

Xnet - how about setting up a text service to alert us naked DSL users when the network is down, rather than us having to use (cell) phone calls to ring our mates / family on another ISP so they can check your homepage?

I suppose I could phone the 0800 number from my cell phone, but still.

I always rang 0800 14xnet and when their network is down the helpdesk usually is too.

Well we swtich over to the iPhone tethering option when it goes down.... Most people have a 3g capable phone these days. Considering you can use casual data and pay $1 for 10 megs (on Vodafone at least) thats plenty of page refreshes on the status page. Regardless of this though the status page only gets updated AFTER the fact from my experience with xnet.

No 3G phone here...and one shouldn't have to rely on another company / provider for internet backup in this day and age....on the other hand, if xnet were to pay for that 3G phone or even the data under such circumstances...

It was down for about 10-15 minutes only. Seems to be a semi-regular occurance at the moment (this is the third time in what - 3 weeks?) at about this time of night.
