I can see the flatmates wifi from my shed just fine, but it doesnt actually work from out there. Same for my house AP.

The truth about wifi coverage is the ranges specified by manufacturers are total BS and are the distance where you can ping and perhaps load a webpage eventually, but are certaily not deserving of being called "working".

Also the blame goes to microsoft etc for not showing weak networks (less than -80dB) as "I can see it but your not going to be able to use it" or something.

Want fun with WiFi try using it in a Lockwood home, weird coverage that has no apparent rhyme or reason.

We stuck a Ubiquiti UniFi-Pro in at work, no issues here now, plus its so good we can warm pies anywhere in the building, don't need to use birth control anymore and can listen to streaming music in our tooth fillings.

freitasm: Stop stuffing tinfoil hats on top of the access point folks...

Went to a motel who had bad wifi coverage. Someone had told them to stick soft drink can's over the top of the antenna of the old WRT54GL *facepalm*

There's nothing wrong with ISP supplied modems; it's your builder's fault for putting 3" lead sheets in all the walls! Tongue Out

I get good wifi all round my house. Good enough. To stream netflix with no issues anyway. I do wish I had better coverage in my garden though, so I can sit outside in the summer and stream the cricket.
