Topic # 113348 14-Jan-2013 16:06 Send private message

My Cisco router, SRP521W, allows for seperate SSID's and VLANS for Data and voice.

Cool I thought, I can have voice traffic getting priority etc etc.

SSID: data_lan (subnet 192.168.15.x)
SSID: voice_lan (subnet 192.168.16.x)

The problem is my data (Computer, TV and Laptop) are on 192.168.15.1 and my Smart phone (which has a Bria client on it) is on 192.168.16.1.

I had been using my smart phone to control the TV in a variety of ways, but now they are on different subnets I cant.

Can I setup a static route in the SRP521W to still allow the two devices to communicate?

Cheers

-Al

No route needs to be set on the SRP521W as its already the default gateway for both subnets and knows the routes between them already. It probably is a firewall rule or something.

It depends whether L2 connectivity is required (ie protocols such as Bonjour). There already is a L3 route, but this won't pass any L2 traffic.

Network Setup -> Routing -> Intervlan routing

There's a radio button to turn this on and off - does it accomplish what you are trying to do?

The same device is the gateway, but VLAN voice has a GW IP of 192.168.16.1 and data lan has a GW IP of 192.168.15.1 - I cant use the data GW IP on the voice VLAN.

I can ping the voice GW from the data LAN and visa versa, so maybe you are right.

Looks like it must need L2, I wanted it for DLNA etc, which must use some sort of broadcast service, ala Bonjour or similar.
