surfisup1000: lyonrouge: Replaced the HTPC with a Mac mini and removed the VMs as there are just too many and they change all the time. Also got my first 32GB machine. Similar to my setup, but without the offbeat stuff (as/400 etc). I've got a couple of popcornhours and apple tv's for media distribution - and itunes integrates into the home audio distribution system via a denon 720ae bridge. It works really well, with the exception of my outside speakers. My stupid amp doesn't output digital signals to the zone 2 out speakers. Why on earth would they block it like this? arg! I have the same challenge, I was hoping to overcome this with the mac mini, i.e. headphone for Zone 2 and HDMI for main zone, but the mac mini does not allow swapping of outputs.

Revised after replacing the TP-Link aDSL/Router/AP with an ASUS. Also added the Samsung Tab 7.7 and archived the two LG P500h.

Ps. The ASUS DSL-N55U has worked out well and has successfully replaced the Netgear and TP-Link, both of which failed to provide a comprehensive and stable solution.

Some switch changes and got rid of the LG P500 and the Galaxy S2. [Edit: removed a network segment and marked pass-thru network adapters.] [Edit: Added Apple TV, resurected LG P500h and hardwired media centre] [Edit: Changed analogue connection in Lounge to AirPort Express]

Completed some revisions on the weekend, primarily moving the Apple ecosystem into its own WiFi network. Note, the 2nd Gen AirPort Express supports Ethernet pass-through, allowing you to use an existing wired connection to inject the device. Now with house-wide AirPlay, when I’m working in the basement my wife can pause the music from upstairs and whole house goes quite.

Thanks for the unlock Frietasm :) After 13 pages reading, I was keen to share my own 'LAN' as we are so stuck for ADSL connections out here, I'm almost a mini ISP too! (there are about 16 ADSL1 links for over 120 houses - but the new RBI means theya re prolly NEVER gonna upgrade us, so we SOL for anything fast with a decent cap... and by fast I'd be ecstatic for 5Mbs! here's my 2c: All this links up through a sub 1Mb ADSL1 link on a FS/FS 100GB plan of which we use about 75GB per month... RBI has actually screwed any sort of 'heavy' rural user: Install install cost is $499 + $75 travel, this is on 24 mth term. Monthly is $105, forfirst 10GB, then either 10GB blocks at $17.50, or $2.50 per GB. Thats a cool $210 for an 80Gb plan or $272.50 on a pas as you go basis! (and we all know that once it's faster - us geeks can't help but use use MOAR! :D *edited for spelling and wrong pic! (lol)

Lol, not far wrong... but happily we seem to have varied schedules and a generally easier going approach to web browsing... All my gaming is mostly SC2 post 10pm Fri /Sat and I have customised all the PC's update schedules etc. to maximise our 'sleeptime mid-week' bandwidth, but there's really no excuse for Chorus/telecom/Vodafone/et el to not want to bring either the exchange or cabinet up to date and reap AT LEAST 50-80 instant converts... even if they repurposed equipment from the LLU project (where telecom went past and did the Cabinet thing anyway) they surely could make a case to improve this. Plus side... hard links to the gamers in the top left house means we get lan nights pre-setup whenever the time affords :)

Samsung purge complete, along with some cabling changes and cheap Android device for the guest room.
