I have given up trying to get my (digital) life into my pockets and so have joined the ranks of man bag-toters. While I am revelling in all the space to carry pretty much anything (digital) I want, I am missing every call/message that comes my way. Needless to say the vibrations aren't vibrate-y enough, and no matter how loud (or obnoxious) I make the ringtone, I never hear it (headphones don't help admittedly).

I am therefore considering one of these bluetooth watch beasties:

Has anyone got one? Any feedback on whether they work or not?

Apparently the Sony Ericsson ones only work with phones of that ilk. And there are a couple of non-branded ones that only seem to have received poor reviews.

Sony seems to have teamed up with Fossil (or its subsidiary Abacus), and there are some non-Sony branded ones that seem to make claims of universal compatibility.

I am running a Nokia E60 with S60 v 3.0633.09.04 (go the wifi VoIP). And yes, it definately has bluetooth.

Any idea whether any of these watches will work with this? As I understand it (never having owned one) Sony uses Symbian OS on its mobiles anyway.

Not sure whether these are available yet in NZ, but I am currently in the UK and there are some available on Amazon.

It would be awesome if I could talk through it, like Michael Knight!

Those watches are used as "displays" so you know who is calling you before taking the phone out of your pocket - they are not used to "talk".

Also note they problably use a specific protocol over the serial link, instead of the standard headset protocol. That's why they only work with specific phones, the ones that "understand" the protocol. This was the case with the Sony Ericsson Bluetooth car as well.

It seems that time has come sooner than we think. I was definately looking at the caller-id style ones Mauricio refers to. However in searching I came across these too - apologies for posting commercial links, but this is the only place I have found them (and no, I am not in any way affiliated with manufacturor/seller thereof):

http://www.amazon.co.uk/TeckNet-TRI-BAND-Megapixel-Bluetooth-Connectivity/dp/B001AIQ6HC/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1216970297&sr=8-7

or http://www.amazon.co.uk/Audio-Pro-Mobile-Bluetooth-headset/dp/B0016JD5CO/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1216970297&sr=8-6

There are a couple of others on Amazon UK too.

Though personally I am a subscriber to the theory that if its too good to be true, it probably is. So while these don't seem to include an espresso maker, the feature list makes me somewhat skeptical that they can fit all that in a wristwatch (and make it work). I am also highly skeptical of my ability to hit a specific button on a 1.6" touchscreen. And to top it off, not being nearly as cool as the Hoff, I am not sure I could pull off walking down the street talking to my own hand.

But hey, I could be wrong. The next big thing may be on its way!
