I have a lousy broadband connection but i suffer along as I choose to live in the middle of nowhere with very few people so No fibre optic No cable No adsl2 but a great place to live.
So my idea is that the better the equipment I have to connect to the Internet will help me achieve the best I can get with what I have to work with.
So I bought a netgear DGND 3700 reported to be the second coming of wireless routers.

So why does it seem to disconnet, not connect, hang more than the cheap dlinks and thompson modems?

I dont think its faulty as when it does connect it works fine.

I rang netgear and spoke to some nice chap in guatamala and other than suggesting I try a diffrent channel....

I was dissapointed to find that in the software I couldnt find a  problem log

So what do you reckon perservere or sell on tradme and go back to a $79 one??

I have bought the same router and have no problems with the wifi. I have set the 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz SSID's with different names. The 5Ghz connection is VERY fast.

My only issue has been the PPP connection but I think that is now sorted (ISP issue)

My only complaint would be every little config change needs a full reboot of the router... Painful!!

Edit: Download a program called inSSIDer it will help you with the best channel to use

Can you clarify, is the adsl connection disconnecting or just the wireless?  Can you test plugged into the router via network cable?

If it's the adsl can you post line stats from the admin ui status page eg: downstream attenuation, signal margin etc

If it's the wireless, run inssider (the start button is actually near the top right side) this will show you signal strength and other competing local access points.  Post a screenshot.

I bought the same DGND3700 a few weeks ago, to replace my WAG200G. I was so hoping it would be the router i wanted, with so many great features but.. the firmware lets it down,

I think there is a good batch and a bad batch, i read nothing but good before i bought it. but then,

i had so many issues with port forwarding, and the ports disspearing, and the menu resetting itself, i phoned netgear about 5 times, and then never called me back to resolve, i had connection issues with the ADSL, its was slow to connect but when it did the speeds were great, and it wasnt the line, as i havnt had a connection issue, in over 2 years, i was just upgrading to get gigabit ports, and the dual wifi, So after a frustating week, i took it back, and got the Linksys WAG320N, and setup was done in about 20 mins and its been perfect. no dual simitanous wifi though.

I think the DGND3700 will be awesome, when the firmware matches the hardware

I have this device and I too have had a lot of problems with the firmware, notably the media server aspect, but also console rendering issues. The media server can not support anonymous access for read while have admin access for write. The DLNA server is sometime there, and sometimes not. I was hoping for a switch, WiFi, media server and aDSL model all in one solution, but this one is not stable enough.

I'm looking for a replacement and will post an undate when a suitable device is found, but if anyone has input please let me know.
