Replacement wireless modem/router...I need a new one

Currently we are using the telecom supplied thomson 585, but as we are now wanting something to replace it. Ideally one that allows for wireless devices to work properly over the network, as the current one doesn't let different wireless devices to talk to each other over the network (ie. the remote app on my iphone for our WD media player doesn't connect, nor splashtop streamer on my ipad to my PC). Something that allows the above to occur and doesn't require a networking genius to setup would be ideal,.. The TP Link is great bang for buck if you don't need dual band wireless or gigabit LAN.

The tp-link has fairly good reviews from what I've read on here and elsewhere on the web. Is dual-band that big a deal or not really? As our landline is a 5.8ghz I'm assuming the std 2.4ghz band would be fine (we've never had issues with the current wifi setup andinterference).

I have the TP-Link TD-W8960N as in your link. I bought it on recommendation from GZers and independant reviews. I have had no trouble with it. It has, and frequently connects android phones, iphones, son's laptop and mates laptops for gaming LAN's and connects my Panasonic DVD recorder to my PC to stream music over the TV sound system. Sometimes Phone, laptop and PC all at once It just works

Loismustdye: Is dual-band that big a deal or not really? Not a big deal unless you have lots of competing nearby wifi networks or want maximum throughput from N devices by having N devices on 5Ghz and B/G devices on 2.4Ghz.

Awesome, thanks for that ragnor, that's perhaps the best explanation I've had someone give as to the merits of single or dual band. Think I will be getting that tp-link one. Thanksa you guys for the feedback.

I've just replaced the TP link with an ASUS DSL-N55U, the TP was failing to reconnect to the aDSL when connection lost, others have not reported this issue, I must have had an odd one, but ASUS gives me GB.
