I there

I am trying to:
a) set channel width to 20 for 2.4GhZ (recommended for iPad)
b) set a DNS value

I can't see an obvious way to do it. I can see DNS setting but it is greyed out.

Could someone with RTA1025 help possibly?

Cheers

Dave

Have sorted b. but still can't work out channel width. Might it be that on an old wireless g router with only 2.4 ghz that there will be no option to change width to 20?

Some routers will only do 20MHz because that is all they are allowed in some markets.

Only enough space for one 2.4GHz 40MHz channel. Some people think that its a little unfair to transmit over the whole band by setting it on ch3 and 40MHz wide ;)

It's already 20. if it was 10 you would get a much slower wireless speed.

Your DNS values should already be set by the ISP to optimally take advantage of the caching they offer.

I'm unsure why you'd need to seek to change either setting to use an ipad.

It is just on the Apple support page. My Ipad keeps dropping wifi and is unable to reconnect for a while. All other devices (including Apple TV2) are fine with it. Whilst unable to reconnect to my router the iPad is ableto connect to my android phone on tethered wifi.

It therefore seems to be an issue with the iPad talking to the router.

Want to do as much as I can before I buy a new outer (wireless N) and hope it works!

Just get an accesspoint and use that. the 150 meg cheap TP links work fine with iPads and are cheap as at pb tech.

Hi rich - sorry could you briefly explain how that would work? Isn't my router an AP?

Are you running iOS6?

Not exactly your problem described there but it seems its hardly flawless in that area.

Could be the fault of the iPad, not the router. Sounds like it considering your other devices are fine.

Have sorted the problem by changing security from WPA to mixed WPA and WPA2 .

Are there any implications to this?

And how do I tell whether a device is using WPA or wpa2?
