Hi There!

I am after a recommendation on a Wireless IP Camera, ideally capable of 720p view/record. Initially we want it as a baby monitor, after that an outdoors surveillance camera. Both will record to our high speed NAS. Needs decent controls remotely via Android and iDevices.

Anyone able to recommend something?

None whatsoever. I wouldn't go near 99% of the wireless cameras on the market because they're all cheap junk.

Wired cameras are another story, and it's not hard to add a wireless bridge.

Yea just get a wired IP camera with wireless bridge. I've been trying the Ubiquiti ones, pretty decent.

Would you be able to point me in the direction of the type of device you are speaking of?

IMHO avoid the UBNT stuff at all costs. It's exceptionally average kit and there is far better kit out there for not much more.

If you read the thread on here over the last few weeks about Dahua stuff you'll see 2MP cameras that you can get landed here for around NZ$150 that IMHO are the best bang for your buck around.

I'm using 3 cheap ones off trademe. Cost about $80. I'm using Ispy free software.
2 of the cameras have pan\tilt.

On the android there is a app called Net eye camera. This connects to most models.

I was after a wireless jobbie too - all I did was go with one of the Dahua 2mp IP Cameras, and plug it into a PoE injector and a wireless repeater and whamo - you effectivly have a wireless camera. Done :)
