Was at a presentation at work recently where the guy was using his iPad to present powerpoint slides via a projector.

He had this connector that connected his iPad to the the VGA cable that was wired up to the projector.

Does anyone know anything about a connector that can do this? If so, what's it called and where can I get one?
Thanks

Hi,
Yes, the iDevices are very cool for presentations - I think that Keynote is probably the best app to use. There are some Apple imposed limitations on what content can be output via the connectors.
Apple make dock connectors for VGA, HDMI, composite & component plugs (possibly some others too).
Can be bought via Apple or Yoobee, Harvey Norman etc.

Thanks Mike! Might be a bit too late to get one for this preso I need to give at an event on Tuesday, but will look into it :)

No problem - yeah, you'd want to be pretty comfortable with whatever presso app you were using, but certainly doable (even for Tuesday). I seem to recall that with the iPad2, 3rd gen & iPhone 4S the VGA out adaptor actually mirrors everything going on on the device's screen - with earlier devices there are some limitations to output.
The Keynote app on the iPad/iPhone is pretty slick and can access the photo album to insert both photos & videos into the presso as well as all the usual arrows, squares, bullet points etc. There is also a cool Keynote Remote app that allows you to wirelessly run a Keynote presentation being run on a Mac computer from your iPad/iPhone. You can see the current slide/next slide on the device screen and swipe thru' your slides while wandering around the venue instead of being next to the computer or just having a remote & needing to look back to see what slide just came up.
More food for thought...

Cheers,
Mike

I'll have a play with Keynote in a bit. Alas what I can't control is what the set up is like at the event I'm going. For Tuesday atleast I'll go with the standard "Hand the preso over to them on a USB stick" scenario (with back up email.)

Once I figure Keynote and the connecting rigmarole out I'll be in a good place. Thanks again :)
