crackrdbycracku: Those Nokias also include 'wireless charging', I don't think this has actually been put to the test in a review yet but still a cool feature. It might be a feature in the iphone 5s.. they have to leave some room for improvement.. or "leave some stones unturned".. that way they can release another phone with these extras and claim it to be legendary..

Plus those of you in Auckland who use the Snapper HOP card do the same thing too. I use it for micro payments at the dairy when I can't be bothered putting in my pin number to purchase something. I don't think it's the end of the world that Apple decided not to include the NFC chip. The main issue they would have had is they would have wanted to control the NFC experience the way that Google has tried with their Google Wallet. The problem there is the Carriers won't have a bar of that and want the secure element to be on the sim card. I have a feeling the Carriers will win out on that one, since they are the ones who buy the vast majority of phones. I work for Telecom, but as always my views are my own.

Not sure if the carriers will win there, even though they usually have their way in the US. Just saw an article yesterday that NFC payments are on the rise in the US (doubling in recent weeks I believe was the figure they mentioned, in absolute terms the numbers aren't that significant [since double next-to-nothing is still next-to-nothing], but I think it shows that as the hardware gets out in the wild there is a consumer will to use it). In relation to the this new iPhone I don't think it matters a great deal, except to the small market segment who want the latest everything (who are unlikely to be buying an iPhone in the first place). Whether there will be some erosion of brand image as others forge ahead in a specs race who knows, it hasn't before, but then the context has changed - this might be the best iPhone ever, but it's coming at a time when the competition is by far at its best ever too. I wonder how many prospective iPhone 5 owners have already plotted what they will do with their extra row of icons! It should re-invigorate the geekzone 'iphone home screen thread' at the very least :P Areas of Geek interest: Home Theatre, HTPC, Android Tablets & Phones, iProducts.

It is pity it has the popout strap mount I think, as it is something that is going to catch on things. If the ipod touch has it and it is so great, I can't understand why they didn't add it to the iphone. I believe the strap is a very smart marketing move... In the Asian markets straps are HUGE! So this will encourage growth in that area of the globe... and you can imagine in NZ where school kids have numerous straps, red ones, black ones, white ones, rasta ones - you get the idea. Heck case will come with straps thrown in / Skullcandy will make one / Marley will make one... I agree. But if that was the case you would think they would have added the popup button to the iphone as well. Maybe that will be the next feature of the iphone 6. They can't have too many features in one update, they have to pace themselves otherwise they will run out of things to add.

Vodafone iPhone 5 Webpage: Ultrafast wirelessiPhone 5 connects to more networks all over the world. And Wi- Fi is faster too. So you can browse, download and stream content at remarkable speeds, wherever you happen to be. Has anyone noticed this on the Vodafone site? (Might be on the Telecom site too...) Hasn't VF just been fined a heap of cash for claiming something similar... It seems misleading to me.
