kithytom: I hope this is not true.. I just checked and it is still 3-4 weeks when ordering in the Apple NZ site.... Where was this screen shot from?

So the store seems to be using the date in the US at the time the order was placed. Mine still says 3-4 weeks, though. Man, I must have missed the shorter shipping period by a matter of two or three minutes. sigh

Sorry to divert the discussion from the angst associated with when the phone orders will arrive. I got to have a play with a black iPhone 5 and must say it is a thing of beauty. Purely from aesthetics, the handset and screen are quite alluring, and the whole feel quite light and dainty without actually being at all flimsy. It's kind of a shame it will be covered up and bulked out by covers. And this from a long time Android user and currently an HTC One X owner. Areas of Geek interest: Home Theatre, HTPC, Android Tablets & Phones, iProducts.

Gives Apple a chance to sort out some hardware manufacturing issues with the phone including case problems with fitting and build quality. Other issues that have popped up seem to include battery and touch screen issues arising from earth leaks? I'm not really too upset with the wait, it was more the fact that I might have missed out on a shorter one, despite bolting out of bed a 1am when my site scanner went off ;0) There's not many things I'll willingly sacrifice precious sleep for. I'm going out today to get a case and a screen protector. It's kind of like getting ready for a new baby, LOL! I've got my eye on some really cute cases from the US that haven't been released yet, but in the meantime I might just get a plain slimline glossy one for interim protection.

Desk charger, car charger and portable battery pack mean I am yet to run out of juice. Use it as a phone - 2 days, use it as a pocketable computer - about 0.5 days. Usage somewhere between means an overnight recharge each night suffices. Not sure if your inquiry is genuine, or if you are pointing to the likelihood that the iP5 will have superior battery life because of tight hardware/software integration. It was a friend who has worked for Apple for quite a while and has had all the iPhones since the original that advised me about having plenty of chargers etc. I guess the point I was making was that having devices from 'the other camp' doesn't prevent me from admiring a fine piece of design in the iPhone 5. Naw it was a genuine enquiry I was just curious. Because I used to have a SGS2. The maximum on screen time I get is 5 hours. Because I'm always on the go it meant that I can't charge. I also did not want to swap to spare batteries everytime because it damages the contacts.

Without wishing to hijack. Portable batteries are a godsend, for an iphone as well. Hook up via usb (or equivalent) and power worries disappear. HTC phones have always had crap battery life. Areas of Geek interest: Home Theatre, HTPC, Android Tablets & Phones, iProducts.
