I've also been upgraded to 2-3 weeks

What time did you order on the Friday morning?

I ordered at around 7:20am so I'm probably not in the "first of the first" batch.

Surely somewhere like JB Hi-fi or DSE would start selling these outright before 3-4 weeks?

I ordered 5am

But it was the 64GB black so I guess it's not that popular

I ordered 02:06am 32GB Black hoping for it to ship the end of next week.
I've seen on macrumors they have shipping of 9-16 I think and theyve only gotten theirs to preparing for shipment today

That sucks

But why not just pick your 5 in aus

you could likely do that and sell it on TM for the price of a new one when yours arrives.

I know a little more than nothing but not much...

I ordered within the 1st 15 minutes, white 64GB, still sitting at 3-4 weeks. I think it all depends on popularity of the model.

I've done my case shopping. I ordered a Speck Candyshell in white/raspberry from the US. It was expensive but that's the case I really wanted, and I figure it's worth it to protect such an expensive device. I have a 5-year old who sometimes gets his hands on my phone so I need something robust. I also got a backup case from Noel Leeming - a Belkin Candy Shell in Whiteout, which has a white TPU bumper and a clear polycarbonate back panel. It's a bit more slimline than the Speck case. I also got a Belkin screen protector which is specifically for retina display - apparently it makes the screen easier to see outdoors or something.  So... that little exercise killed a week. What am I going to do to occupy the rest of my wait? Wink

If im honest i wouldnt go for a case at all! i bought the Ghost Armor full body kit!

Casing will let in crap and dirt and then scratch the aluminum band on your new iPhone 5!!

Just checked the US, Aust and UK stores and all are 3-4 weeks.

Will have to find something else to occupy me until it arrives.

This is always a risk - that's why it's a good idea to just gently slip off the case and give the phone a wipe over with a microfibre cloth once a week. But having it slip out of my handbag onto concrete is likely to leave much more of a scratch so I think I'll take the lesser of two evils and go with the case. Laughing

Last year Telecom had stocks of prepay iphone 4s's about 2 weeks before the Apple shipments. Plenty of time to cancel the Apple orders.

My mate in Australia bought the iPhone 5 without contract from a reseller. I've talked to people at work who flew back from OZ business trip with iPhone 5's

Again, it supports the fact that Apple does not care whether they actually sell it on a contract or otherwise.

As per my earlier posts got mine Monday via corporate...
I hear rumbles the 2nd shipment has arrived and some retailers will be selling outright possibly as soon as this weekend.
