couteau: The lightning cable I ordered a couple of weeks later than my iPhone 5 shipped yesterday (17th Oct) and will be arriving today (Status - Out to delivery).
Pretty quick TNT (overnight) delivery from Sydney.

Yeah I am amazed by the delivery speed as well.  I ordered a lightning adaptor on 16/10 (which said 5-7 business days delivery), then last night 6pm 17/10 got email saying it was being shipped, checked tracking and it arrived in Sydney 6pm, then left there and arrived at my house in Hastings at 10.50 this morning.  As an aside, the TNT tracking says it was signed for by me, but I am at work and no one at home today, so hopefully they did what they usually do and left it by the door - better go and check at lunchtime!

I have had my 5 for 2 weeks now, totally stocked with it, still finding out new things, some subtle.  really like the size, its heaps lighter and I like that I can still do things with one hand - glad its not wider.  Big improvements in speed all around, makes my old iphone 4 seem like a slow brick (which is what I thought when I went from the 3G to 4)

Really looking forward to my upgrade from a 3GS!

I ordered around 6:50am on the 28th and no update from 3-4weeks (29 Oct - 2 Nov).

You will be blown away with the new iPhone going from a 3GS. As above I went from a 4 to 5 and noticed a big improvement. Speed and of course the main thing is that screen clarity.

Just been into Telecom--they are now selling them on their Open Smartphone Plans so there is no contract, and they're great plans. I cancelled my order from Apple soon after.

Are they doing so instore? Thinking I should cancel my Apple order now that they might be widely available contract-free. Don't want to be stuck with a second phone I can't sell.

My restore just took almost 2 hours before I could even use the phone!

I really want the iPhone now. but I'm worried if I get it from telecom and there is something wrong with it it'll be a big hassle. If I do get one from telecom can I just go straight to apple if it needs repair? has anyone had any experience with that kind of situation? Also can if I get one can I cancel the open plan straight away in store?

I had heard a rumour or two so I went and asked expecting to be declined and presto! Came on today apparently. So I connected an Open $29 Plan and paid I think 1149? for a 32GB.

Pretty good.

Does that mean if I go and buy one from Telecom now, I can take it straight over to vodafone and switch the sim to be on the vodafone network?? To be more specific, is it the same as buying the phone outright? Sorry for a silly question, I am just a bit unclear!
