Just been into Telecom--they are now selling them on their Open Smartphone Plans so there is no contract, and they're great plans. I cancelled my order from Apple soon after.

Correct, just been on the phone to them, they have decent stock too, just cancelled my Apple order, my phone can be picked up tonight from Telecom branch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had heard a rumour or two so I went and asked expecting to be declined and presto! Came on today apparently. So I connected an Open $29 Plan and paid I think 1149? for a 32GB.

Pretty good.

Does that mean if I go and buy one from Telecom now, I can take it straight over to vodafone and switch the sim to be on the vodafone network?? To be more specific, is it the same as buying the phone outright? Sorry for a silly question, I am just a bit unclear!

Correct, it is the same as buying the phone outright! the phones are locked so can use whatever carrier you like! just cancel with telecom after 1 month for no fee! this is what i have to do!

Oh so I will have to use it with telecom for one month before I can move to vodafone?

My white 64GB is showing as shipping 26th - 1st (and has been for about a week), but hopefully with everyone cancelling their orders and running off to Telecom, it might come a bit earlier! Wink Those open plans are pretty good. I'd be getting one today if I wasn't still clinging like a limpet to my old Smart1 with 3GB of data.

As an interesting side-note, my staff member who got his on the weekend said that the Vodafone store he went to had checked every 5 they'd sold and not found a single one with scuffing issues out of the box.
