littleheaven: The Eagle has landed!

I have my phone, came in at 11am. Absolutely pristine out of the box. I got someone to film the unboxing in case there were scuffs, but it was fine. I inspected the bezel very carefully. I've popped in the sim, applied the screen protector and cased it immediately. Can't set it up until I get home, sadly. But it looks nice on my desk. Smile Just have to call Vodafone to swap my number to the new sim now.

Congrats littleheaven - Its an awesome phone, I am predicting you wont get to sleep until at least 2am tonight.   :P

Yay, it's a tidal wave of iPhones!

Managed to interim set mine up through iTunes here at work, though I've not registered it yet. But Vodafone was really quick and easy with the phone number swap, and it's working as a phone, at least, plus I can play with the standard apps. Going to restore from backup as soon as I get home.

I just phoned telecom to cancel the $29- open plan. I am only going to be charged for the time from activating until the cancellation goes through later today. If you wish to cancel it, do it ASAP.

Little heaven that's awesome news! You will love it, I have had mine a week tomorrow and I do! I am finding the data is going down fast on 3 g and I only turn it on at work a couple of times a day. I am keen to have more data soon, but didn't realise I could change from the plan so fast. A week down the track might be too late? Did you ring telecom shop to cancel? I would prefer to be doing prepay.

JarrodM: I got the open term plan from telecom, cancelled it that night on their website and received my bill today for a total of $0. win.

Could you give us a heads-up on where to do this on the site?
It's a nightmare to navigate. Can't find a thing...

Whats your choice of a car phone holder? I am looking for one as well. Just installed Sygic on our phones - works pretty well.

Here is the link for cancelling your contract. Took me quite a bit of searching to get it too...

Thanks for that.

In the time before your reply, I gave up and actually rang.
Got a nice lady who switched me back to the $19 Prepay plan. Sounds like I'll still have to pay the original $29 though (I bought the phone on Saturday).

I have to say, the music they played whilst I was on hold was weird.

Some song about a woman who has an unborn twin inside her that she doesn't know about, and her doctor cutting her open and being surprised (I am not making this up).

Weird...

I would imagine you would still be charged for the month even if you cancel out, especially after a week, but I do want to go onto telecom prepay so could still do it I guess. And just pay the one month contract anyway if they insist! The prepay option is running out at the end of the month.

littleheaven - congrats on your iPhone turning up! Enjoy and try to get some sleep tonight.

Mine went to "Preparing for Shipment" about 4 pm, as did my brother's and those of two friends. I rang Apple to check the details and the sales rep was pretty sure it is a bulk shipment from China via Sydney, where it will be broken up for individual delivery. Clearly there are a lot of iPhones going out at the same time. The rep estimated arrival of Monday or Tuesday, which fits with the start of my original delivery window (29/10 to 2/11). Fingers crossed for Monday, so I can demo it at a meeting that evening.

I popped into a Vodafone shop today and picked up a free nano-SIM which will be activated by ringing Vodafone customer support, so thanks for that tip. A friend with Telecom was told he could pick up a free nano-SIM on the day his phone arrives. Telecom needs to transfer the account details to the new SIM in store. We're both on post-paid accounts (he's on contract, I'm not), so I don't know whether the situation would be for different someone on prepay.
