ajobbins: Apple have decided that you device is too old and they have scheduled an upgrade for you (at your cost).

The reboots are your subtle reminder. Get your credit card out.

:P

Thanks for that Wink

gehenna: Did you read the article? Saved state is not RAM usage. Nor are background services.

Closing apps from the multitasking bar has never sped up my device.  The only reason I would do it is to make the list of recently used apps smaller or to close a faulting app and reopen it cleanly.

Interesting, I have apps that show the ram usage and it DOES decrease when you close the apps in the multitasking bar, on my iphone 4 there is a definate speed difference when closing apps.

AFAIK doing a hard reset (holding the lock and home button should close everything.

For the question about backing up the issue, regardless of this you would have to eventually restore to factory if this was the case. I would doubt it was tho.

I know a little more than nothing but not much...

i do not believe 100% of everything that is written on the internet, or anywhere for that matter including authoritative textbooks ... as long as they're written by humans
