It appears they are selling the newly announced Apple TV that does 1080p video. They have been there for a week - I preordered Apple TV (3rd Gen) last Thursday. Do you have it yet? Nope, it hasn't shipped yet, though some are reporting receiving email advice of shipping today.

No, not delivered yet, but they did say at the time 16 March. Who knows maybe it'll turn up tomorrow - I'm not counting on it though! Just incase someone hasn't calculated this already, if we take the x1.35 difference between the AU$429 and the NZ$579 for the 16GB iPad 2, and apply it to the AU new iPad pricing, then the NZ pricing would come in at: 16GB WiFi = $729 32GB WiFi = $879 64GB WiFi = $1029 16GB WiFi+4G = $919 32GB WiFi+4G = $1069 64GB WiFi+4G = $1219 Although some of those are pretty silly price points. Time will tell!

Time will tell! that would be nice, but I thinkit more likely they will go with the previous price points i.e. $799 for entry levelwifi and upwards from there.

I don't think they will change the pricing. I mean why would they if they can get that price. Although the new apple tv did drop a bit...

I wonder why they're not allowing Internet pre-orders. The countries eligible for the 16th launch could pre-order online a week out. I'm just happy to order now and get it when it's available

I know the keynote showed unchanged US pricing (and a then stated NZ launch date of 23 March), but Apple products have traditionally set the local pricing with consideration to exchange rate at launch time. For Apple TV, the same keynote announced unchanged US$99 pricing, however the NZ price has dropped from $179 to $159. Would certainly be good to confirm the expected NZ iPad pricing question, if you can point us to your reference.

Consider, for example, the 16GB model that costs US $499, but AU$539, which doesn't reflect the fact that the Aussie dollar is worth more than the American and has been for a while. I imagine the variance to the "actual exchange rate" is due to currency hedging, which lets them keep the price the same even though the currency relationship will vary over time. That being said, the best option is to purchase in the US within a state that doesn't charge a sales tax. I believe this includes New York, a quick Wikipedia search should confirm this, although the cost of flying there to buy it would probably cancel out any benefits...

Which brings up the next question. Anyone planning on going to new york in the next couple of weeks!? Coming back with 4 or 5 ipads in your luggage may arouse suspicion however, "honestly there for me gov" probably won't cut it :)

If you have an iPhone, you can enable "Personal Hotspot" on the iPhone and connect a WiFi only iPad to the internet that way. ie. If you have an iPhone and generally always have it in range, you can avoid paying for 2x SIMs and data plans by just going with the WiFi model and Personal Hotspot. Although this will also shorten the iPhone battery life. I imagine you can probably do this with various other mobile phones as well?
