Hi All,

Well I have had my iPhone 4S since January this year, I have never had a problem with it at all and this particular day there was no reason or hints there was anything with it! I was using it all day texting/calling/facebook/emailing etc by the end of the day the battery was low so on my 2hr drive I put my iPhone on the car charger when I got home it was 100% charged so left in the car while I went inside and got changed. When I got back into the car the phone was dead I tried turning it back on nothing happened so I tried the hard reset which then the apple logo appeared then screen went blank then the apple logo appeared then screen went blank!! So i tried hard reset again to which the iTunes logo and cord appeared saying please connect to iTunes so I did!! Once connected it said iPhone was in recovery mode and must be restored so did that it got to the final stage where it said that iTunes was preparing to restore iPhone then all of a sudden it came up with the following.

iTunes could not restore "iPhone" an unexpected error occurred (1601)

So I contacted Harvey Norman which they said it is still under warranty they would send it away, What I can't understand is why on earth it would take 1 month to be returned!!!

is this common practice?? Who do they use for their repairs & service?? Can I talk to them directly to speed the process up??

As this is my Work phone I need it back ASAP to be able to do my job to the best of my ability!

Thanks for any help that is offered.

Richard

Use a different USB cable and/or computer to restore.

They have had it a week already now! So a while in my eyes.

I have tried a different usb also tried 2 different mac computers as well as a windows computer so it has been tried on 3 different computers all with the same error message.

They had my vacuum cleaner for over a month, and then ended up replacing it.

This might be advice that's too late for you, I was told to ring AppleCare on an international free number 0080076667666 first and get a case number and they advise as to where to return it for assessment and repair and then you have a point of contact for progress. You could try ringing Apple.

Yeah, it's kinda too late now, but Apple warranty is 1 year. If you have a legitimate problem, it should be taken care of. The $60 is just a holding amount in case nothing is wrong? Or was it a third party repair? I forget.

So Should I ring apple?

Or does anybody know who Harvey Norman deal with to get these things sorted??

The most we can suggest is to call and ask.

I think when my sisters headphones were broken they charged a $50 fee in case of no fault, via a third party repairer, but when she had her phone actually fail, Apple dealt with it.

Ring Apple you've got nothing to lose, bar a few minutes of your day. Ring Harvey Norman too. The squeaky wheel gets oil.

Cheers! I did check the apple.co.nz to see who their service provider was but they didn't list one on there website.

I'll ring Harvey Norman and give them a hurry up as it is making my job very hard!!

So this has really annoyed me now!

I have just got a phone call from Harvey Norman, they said they have been working on trying to fix it to which they can't so now have to send it away! So when I took it back over a week ago now they couldn't fix it so they were going to send it away then!! But yet they still haven't.

I was not happy with the gentlemen expressing my disappointment which his reply was he would try put urgent on it but might not be sent till tomorrow!!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!
