Hi, after something durable for dirty hands and dust etc , any ip67 rated or other "ruggedised" smartphone considered.
Would be an advantage if compatible with Cyanogenmod.

Must be in excellent condition, thanks

Thanks, looking at a Cnet review it seems its just the same pretty much as the old Defy from 2010 and doesnt run ICS, looks well overpriced at $599 if not subsidised with a plan.

Googling around I see theres also the Sony Xperia Active for around $300 but I dont like that big belt loop lug thing on it.

Also the Defy has a higher res screen but both are quite dim in reviews.

Maybe Ill just get an ottercase for the nice HTC Desire I just bought here from CdTDroid but that will bulk it out a fair bit and keen to compare with a Defy or DefyPlus.

Good luck with finding one that is actually IP67 (1m under water for >30 minutes) and will last. This is really hard to do. My wife and I are engineers at an agritech company and we are (again) developing a product that is actually IP67 rated as well as survive 9x 1m drops onto concrete. Connectors are the worst, next is sealing the case. But the big issue is the product might be IP67 rated but over time connectors fail from corrosion or the seals do not last. Be aware most are not IP67 when accessories are plugged in, unless it is special accessories to maintain a seal.

A few years ago we were looking at rugged basic PDAs and the price came in around $3,000. Last year we looked at rugged tablets and the price was between $4,000 and $7,000. These are truly IP67 rated products like the Yuma, Trimble, Nomad, and Juneper Mesa.

Thanks, good luck with the project. Yes I was a bit wary of the "ruggedised" claims depending on flimsy rubber covers but I guess it gives an idea of general buold quality and durability.
I just want something splash resistant and that wont easily scratch or break when dropped, get dust under the screen etc
