Hi there,

I'm currently on the Slingshot 'Broadband 100' plan which gives 100GB per month. With a few extra people in the household, we're finding we are reaching that 100GB sooner than expect most months.

My question is, if I change the plan to move up to the AYCE plan, will this put me into a contract?

I'm pretty sure there is no current contract on the broadband part of the account, although I think there is still a few months to go of a 12 month contract for homeline services.

The current Broadband 100 plan is charged at $50 per month. The AYCE plan states it is $60 per month. I am halfway through my current billing period. Will I just be paying an extra $10 to be moving up to AYCE plan, or is it another full $60 that needs to be paid?

I'm aware a lot of these questions may have been asked in various AYCE related threads, but those appear to have gone into many, many pages.
Ideally, I would love a Slingshot Rep. to address these questions directly, and by posting in public though others might get some use out of the answers, too.

We did the same plan shift, and although we had a few months left in our current contract, they were happy to shift us to AYCE without extending our contract, so I cant see why they would insist you start one.

There are two ways to do it - wait until the end of your current billing cycle and change plan then; or change plan part way through the cycle, so you will get a pro-rata refund to your account for your current month (assuming you are paying one month in advance which is standard), and start a new full cycle of the $60 plan (which will be payable in advance afaik)

Sounds like it's doable without a contract then.

Hopefully someone from Slingshot can chime in here and confirm.

It's easy enough to do via the "Change broadband plan" option online, but just wanted to be sure it didn't involve going into any contracts.
Also wasn't sure how the mid-billing date pro-rata thing worked either

Very true.

To be honest though, a slight debacle with a call centre CSR a while back makes me want to trust the written word from the Slingshot guys on here a little more.

Plus, it might help others out with a similar question. :)

Same for me but it has changed since.

I see no reason why there would be a contract required for such a switch especially considering its moving up a plan but there is always the possibility.

Thanks for all the replies.

I made the upgrade to AYCE, and haven't had any communications from Slingshot that says anything about a contract, so I'm assuming there is none.
Actually, Slingshot have just this moment sent me a message saying there is no contract when switching between plans.

Speed wise, I don't think it's a fast as the BB100 plan, but it's certainly not unusable.
As long as I can watch YouTube without buffering, I'm happy.

Hi,

Aside from new customers and hardware orders, the only plan that will currently extend your contract is the promotional 20GB plan. You can switch between the others as required with no change to your contract.
