Hi, we are looking at changing from Slingshot to Snap in the future but we would like to keep our Slingshot email address. Is this possible and if it is, will it cost us?
Thanks

I don't know what Slingshot's official policy is but with the vast majority of ISP's out there you'll always lose your email address when you stop paying for their services. The only known exception to this I'm aware of is Orcon who have said for many years you'll always be able to keep it.

Using an ISP email address is IMHO the worst idea ever when you can have your own domain and email so cheaply these days. There are plenty of options out there starting from as little as a few $ per year depenfing on what TLD you want to use.

I fully agree with you, but my parents didn't realise that when they signed up with Slingshot quite a few years ago, and now it would be a huge inconvenience to change their email address.

Maybe keep on the most basic service e.g. dialup. Then setup a separate domain for their email, forward the slingshot to the new one and hopefully after a year or 2 you can drop the slingshot one.

I think your parents should ring them and ask if they can keep it.  About 5 years ago I was able to reactivate a 3 years defunct Slingshot email address for a few bucks per month, even though they were not my ISP at the time, which enabled me to regain a lost domain address.  I don't work for Slinghot and this may not be current policy, but there's no harm in asking.  Good luck!

Hello,

You can keep your Slingshot email address for $5 per month.

Cheers,
Ben
