I got this annoying problem Whenever my Mum (Telecom Land Line) calls me or my brother (both on LLU, one west, one south,) we get tons of dropped calls from her, ranging from seconds to minutes My Mum makes 1-2 dozen phone calls every day to 1-2 dozen different numbers besides ours, for work, and has no issue at all Me and my brother can call / receive calls from anyone else, each other, and have no issue, unless its from her. I have logged a fault with Orcon, nothing much happened there, so decided to try from the telecom side She has logged a fault with Telecom, had 2 Techs at her exchange trying to solve it, no solution Unfortunatly she has no trouble with her phone calling anyone else, and we only have trouble when she calls us, which makes these problems hard to solve Is anyone else getting a similar problem since changing to LLU?

Yep. One way speach and dead air. I logged it with Orcon a week ago. "From your email I understand that you are experiencing an issue with the Homeline dropping out intermittently. Currently out engineers are aware of an issue that is effecting 1 - 2% of the customer base and is creating the symptoms that you describe. They are currently working on a resolution to this and it should be resolved soon." Sounds like a software glitch.. Regards, Old3eyes

hmm, may not be quite the same problem, the call is dropped on both sides immediatly and you can hear a disconnected dial tone on both sides straight away, there is no one way or dead air involved

I get 10-20% of my outbound calls going through as one-way speech as well. So far, I can always hear the far end, but they can't hear me. Must be getting a lot of "complaints" about crank calls coming from Orcon lines! I figured Orcon would be getting hammered with support calls, so I didn't bother logging it.

Ahh my wife called someone last night and she could hear the other person but they couldn't hear her.. I put it down to just a random event.. but now that i've read this... grrrr another problem with orcon llu... It happened a while ago when i called my mother also...now that I think about it..

I just called Orcon and mentioned I am having this problem, where I call someone and we can hear them but they can't hear us. they said they had never heard of it but logged it (whatever that means). They asked if I meant dropped calls and I said no just that the person on the other end can't hear us but we can hear them... From the response you got it looks like they are thinking you are talking about dropped calls also rather than this one way speech... Have you heard anything back from them about it?

We get about 4 calls a day that ether "Drop, One way speech or Dead air both ways" I supposes from Orcon's perspective a call that is dead air or one way speech is a dropped call when the Orcon users hears reorder tone when the distant party hangs up due to no speech.. Regards, Old3eyes

well atleast its on there system status page Dropped calls on the Orcon+ network We have had reports that some users on the Orcon+ network are experiencing randomly dropped phone calls. This appears to be affecting a very small number of calls (less than 1%) but has been escalated with our network equipment suppliers for a swift resolution.

anyone else still getting the problem of calls where the other person can't hear you? I am still getting it randomly.. Sent orcon another email about it and they seem to think it is a new problem... sigh..

Yup. I get that one way speech thing too too. Something like 5-10% of all calls are one way speech for me. Its always the same one way, I can hear the far end, they can't hear me.

How many phones do you have connected? do you have a central line splitter in the house? What exchange are you on? Just seeing if there are any similarities between us :) Have you emailed them about it also?

People still having this problem?? Last weekend it seemed like very 3rd call dropped. This week it's been better. It's got to the point that I'm now paying 2Talk $15 / month now for a second line so that these calls don't drop off. Even bought a new set of cordless fones last weekend to prove a possable weekest link. Was still the same. Using the old cordless fones on the 2talk line with no problems.. Regards, Old3eyes
