Karlosnz: True but once it is all sorted I will be talking with Orcon about some sort of compensation
Cause not only do we get cut off all the time, the line quality is bad 80% of the time
But give Orcon their dues they rang me last night to keep me updated with what is going on with my case etc

what is going on with your case as I don't have access to all the details? We can disable call waiting for you and the fix is expected any day after testing has been completed. Feel free to PM me any details so we can take a closer look.

Any update on the call waiting problem. I just lost another call because a second call came in.
Is there any progress

Bump!

I am considering switching to the Genius Plan and really need to do so in the next couple of days, or wait till next month?

Not that we get many incoming calls at all but can someone update me on the status of the call waiting problem?

Is it definitely all users or just certain exchanges or just random bad luck as to who has a problem?

Dont rush it, we have had nothing but problems with Genius
mainly with the phone side of things call waiting not working getting cut off when some rings when you are already talking to someone my wife is at her wits end as she is home with the kids all day.
Tried to get hold of the hepldesk at Orcon today and she got cut off maybe someone else tried to call her?
then waited anothe 30 odd mins to get no where no option to leave a message and get a call back anymore, so she has emailed them in hope of talking to someone.

As far as I can determine it just does not work correctly. What happens is when a second cal comes in it tries to alert you and your phone goes dead. You cannot hear first caller nor can they hear you.
You can press the R button which will transfer you to second call and if you press R again it will put you back to first call. That's fine but caller would probably hang up before you can get back to them.
Orcon did offer to turn call waiting off but I decided to leave it on as they promised to have a solution in testing and they would roll it out soon.
Cannot believe they never tested this feature before they rolled out Genius.
Its been a couple of weeks since they promised a fix and nothing more head from them.
Other than that I have no problems it works and I will live with the call waiting problems as I get few calls anyway.

We are putting allot of effort to have the fix for this rolled out asap but we don't want to rush things and you find more issues with it... It's top of the outstanding issue list and has our full focus..
The offer stands to disable call waiting so the new inbound call goes to voicemail then emailed to you.

Thanks

Are any services on this Genius platform controllable by the user or are they all controlled by Orcon ?

You pretty much have access to change all the normal function of a wireless/adsl modem, plus the DECT phone settings. It comes pre-setup so you dont need to make many changes, other than changing the admin and wireless passwords. You can setup/chance firewall rules, Applications, port forwarding, DHCP, DNS, uPNP, DDNS, VLAN, Internet filter rules (parental control, filtering, access schedules, etc), remote management, primary & secondary wireless SSID, wireless security (WEP, WPA/WPA2, etc) and MAC address filtering, Wireless mode (802.11n,g,b), USB port config for the file server/web server.

So you still have all the control you need

Ron's response may be clarified by adding a period. ie:

NO. Voice stuff is under Orcons control

The options to deselect or select services like call waiting and communication settings under VOIP are either greyed out or there's no user selectable option to apply changes.
