Yeah, sadly your story isn't all that unique. The demand for Orcon's new product has exceeded their ability to properly support and provision the service.

This is really unfortunate, because overall Orcon is a good ISP that offers good products at good prices. But in this case their reputation (with new, existing and potential customers) is taking a real hit.

I've been saying for the past week or so that Orcon need to stop accepting new signups until they have their systems under control.

We've been without phone and internet for over two weeks now
since we signed up to genius

I rang up to cancel internet and they said can I give them to the end of the week and if they have not fixed it they we would waive the disconnection fee

so we will see....

Yeah I wouldn't be paying a disconnection fee in that scenario at all. The Genius product is good, the pricing is right - but Orcon is seriously damaging their reputation by not being able to deliver the product and support for it in a reasonable way.

Are you surprised about the level of service? We pay them not far off from 5 numbers a month and a simple cable still took 3 weeks and I never heard back until I chase them up.!!!

hmmm Was thinking of foregoing the headaches I had last time with Orcon and was thinking about Genius, I'm afraid now I'm not sure I want to go through the headaches again.

I would still give then a go because
1. It is owned by the people of New Zealand so despite the problems it is still better than the alternative.
2. There is no alternative really

PS. If John Key decides to sell down Kordia/Orcon I will be most pissed off

looking very hard at getting the Orcon Genies, was going to move over from  iHug\Vodafone after a lot of years of good service.. But will hold off until the high demand for the service is under control. Could not go without "Black Ops" for a week or more if it all goes wrong

The product is, for the most part good. I think I would recommend it - but yeah, wait until after they've got it under control.
