Hey there

Unsure of whether to post this to the TiVo or Freeview forum as I'm not sure as the origins of the issue, but think this is the most likely place...

Anyway, about 10 days ago I set up a number of programmes on Choice TV to record as season passes.

Every single pass recorded every single instance of each of the programmes - this means up to three (or four) copies of exactly the same episode. This occurred whatever the "show type" on the TiVo setting as set to (including first run only).

I coped with this issue for a while until it got to the point that the damn TiVo deleted the first episode of a series as it was set to keep five only, and this was quickly reached thanks to recording multiple copies of the second episode (and it appears when it elects to delete, these aren't placed in the trash, but are deleted permanently).

My question is therefore where does this problem originate from? Is it in the programming of Choice's EPG? TVNZ7 repeats many shows such as Media7 many times across a week, but I still end up with only one recorded episode - so I don't think it's a TiVO issue.

If it's a Choice TV issue then I do intend to contact them about it - I, for one, have given up recording some potentially interesting shows because of the hassle of managing this issue.

Thanks for any assistance.

Take a look at the season pass settings, is it set to record 1st run epsoides or every run including repeats?

If it's set to record 1st run only and it's still recording repeats then it's an EPG problem (coding repeats as 1st runs) although it is most likely tivo's fault again for not coding the epg correctly

ChoiceTV have been having EPG issues since launch, but they have generally been to do with MyFreeview devices.

This issue has been happening with me, but has not annoyed me too much yet, as the only show I have series pass on is Penn & Teller: Fool Us.

Yep, as mentioned above it occurs whatever the setting  - repeats & first run, first run only, or all with duplicates.

Confirms my thoughts it was the EPG - have many others had this problem? I'll email Choice TV now and post if I get any response.

I got around that by manually setting it to record each week.

I got a response today; haven't yet had the opportunity to confirm if it is fixed:

Hi Jonathan,

Thank you for your email.

Unfortunately  we were experiencing some issues with recordings – we have since asked Freeview to unlink the repeats so that only the original programme is recorded.  I wondered if you are still having this problem as they have assured us that it is fixed.

Kind Regards

Choice TV
