Anyone know anything about these?  JB are selling them for 199 and say they have a Twin HiDef tuner.

I see no "Freeview" logo on it. Hopefully it's NOT Freeview crippled and will actually work properly !  Or at least start recording when its programmed to.

They could be getting rid of some old satellite PVRs
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=83&topicid=22781
or they made a mistake. That's a good price for a double tuner receiver if it's true.

Have JBHifi really stopped selling the DishTV T1050PVR and gone back to the Homecast HT9200DTR?

Thanks for the link.  I assumed it was a terrestrial rx with the Hi Def capability. Sort of keen to get a terrestrial recorder (even single tuner) that doesn't rely on any EPG to start recording. And ideally non-Freeview so you have time skip.

Sorry, can't answer your question about Dish unit.

Do you have a model number and a link for that?

Can't see it on their website, but if it's the model 7100 and it works in NZ it would be a good buy.

Not Freeview so, as you say, hopefully not a crippled unit. The specs on the model 7100 (found an aussie review) look good - seems to have expandable storage via usb, twin tuner, HD and SD recording, and the ability to transfer files over ethernet (without any annoying DRM, special software needed, or fiddling about with MAKs etc). All that is, in my view, a more than acceptable trade-off for not having Freeview's EPG.

In fact, if I could get an NZ-functional 7100 for $199, I would probably chuck my Tivo in the harbour......

Yeah
That's where I found it too.
So that's around $260 NZ + shipping and most likely won't work on our NZ Freeview system anyway.

Looks like the tivo will be more reliable based on the reviews at http://www.cnet.com.au/topfield-tf7100hdpvrt-339291877.htm

Yeah, suspected it wasn't NZ model/pricing. It would have been a very good price for a non-crippled (AKA Freeview-approved) unit that was networkable and with an internal HD, even if it had some other issues.

Not sure on reliability, as more than a few people here seem to be having issues with their Tivos. I haven't, but to be honest mine has only been powered on about twice in the last 10 weeks. Aside from annoyance that the drive runs all the time if I leave it powered on, Hybrid charging an extra $120-ish just to be able to plug in a cable and access the contents of a hard drive that I own sticks in the throat a bit.

Will probably replace it by updating my Panny DVD recorder to one of the FV-compatible models, as I want something that will let me stream recordings to DLNA-compatible media players in the other rooms without needing special software on a PC and transcoding etc. Plus, given the dearth of content on freeview, it would be nice to be able to stream Sky recordings to the bedroom etc.
