Wow just watching some music videos on C4 and the quality is absolute crap! Does it have like a really low quality signal or is it just me. My Blu-Ray Collection

Freeview HD or Satellite? am watching it at home using HD, looks okay but on satellite (on a 50" TV) I agree it could look better

sat is imo unwatchable. dvb-t is ok but still some artifacting. blame freeview for not leasing a satillite with enough capacity for their aspirations. Richard rich.ms

you know lots of there videos look crap on both dvb-t dvb-s there videos come on digital tapes but i would love to know where they get some of there videos looks like there just downloaded off the net ive seen 5 videos on there and they where from promo only us

the ones where the source look crap are usually soft looking. not collapsing down to a sea of 12mm blocks like dvbs does. infact thosr soft ones with black on all 4 sides seem to do the best when starved of bandwidth like sat is. the newer decent source ones go to hell. Richard rich.ms

The issues with music videos are much deeper than the television companies' bandwidth decisions. There are issues all over the world, even on US MTV, with badly mastered videos and shoddy PAL > NTSC or NTSC > PAL conversion. I've even seen some videos resized for no apparent reason; they have been the correct aspect ratio for broadcast but still scaled down and shown with black borders. C4 on DVB-T looks like HD compared with Prime.

As far as I can tell, everyone is pointing at Optus D1. Even before freeview started, TV1 and 2 were there. Maybe we could launch a satellite ourselves... sounds cheap. Is it really not good enough as a fill-in for 13% of NZers who can't get DTT after DSO? Were you as a taxpayer going to fund higher quality viewing for 13% of NZ? I wouldn't. Satellite's very expensive. don't mess with me.... i'm the hd insider....

This quality is normal for most SD sky channels... and you have to pay for that sh!t. At least it's the full 720x576. Many similar offerings overseas are 544x576 or lower. Sky had a period where lower resolutions were acceptable. Thankfully they don't do this now. don't mess with me.... i'm the hd insider....
