Hi,

Recently purchased a Kaiser Baas TV stick with DVB-T capabilities, think its a model KBA1008-KB.
Trying to connect it with my laptop.
Haven't been able to get any channels on it at all though, tried with the supplied antenna and with my own indoor RF antenna from a TV.

Bit far away from major centres (between Timaru and Oamaru) but we are able to get freeview in our area via an exterior receiver (basically a sky dish). So I'm unsure if that means my only option is an exterior antenna  to get anything, or if its due to some other reason.

Really new to this so any ideas would be great, thanks. :)

You can't receive DVB-T via a satellite dish. You need a UHF antenna and need to be in a Freeview DVB-T area.
To receice Freeview via Satellite you need a DVB_S Satellite Receiver.

So I should try with a UHF antenna then? Is a normal Tv antenna similar or not?

Basically all I have at the moment is the supplied antenna, which is tiny 10cm tall rod, and various indoor antennas.

put your address into the Freeview sites coverage check. That will tell you if you have any hope of getting the Freeview DVB-T service.

So I checked my address, and it says for UHF its likely (but says coming soon underneath?)

I looked at DSE and they have a few antennas, just wondering if I should give one of them ago.

I'd go with the outdoor antenna unless you are near and can see Cave Hill.
Should be available in your area by the end of this week if not available already according to Wikipedia.

I wouldn't rely 100% on Wikipedia for info as last minute technical difficulties can delay the launch.

Always check Geekzone in case someone's mentioned it's gone live or even better scan it yourself and see if it's there.
