I am wondering if Quickflix is to be streamed via a Freeview channel dows that mean if you have a PVR you could record the Quickflix programme for later viewing?, or is it likely they will use MHEG5 to lock out the recording option on streaming.

The Quickflix "app" uses MHEG5 and the actual video comes in via your broadband connection. It doesn't use the Freeview transmitters other than to get the app onto your device.

So the barrier to entry will be ethernet/wifi on your stb or tv right?

yes that sounds correct. Really in my case as I already can get Quickflix via my Sony TV there is not much reason to use the Freeviewbox. I guess it would be similar to the way you can get Quickflix over a PS3 Games console.

Your TV/STB simply runs a MHEG5 interactive app (MHEG-IC) that uses the Ethernet port to stream video in H.264 over your internet connection.

Having used the QF app on Sony Bravia, PS3, iPad, and Samsung phones, (I have all those devices)  I can say that the Bravia app is the worst out of the lot by absolutely miles. If you are using the Bravia app and you have another option, then you should take that other option.

Nothin against quickflix, it just seems that sony control every element of their bravia experience and purposely make it rubbush (the netflix bravia and hulu bravia apps are equally bad)

Not sure what your complaint is but I have two Bravia TV's and have no problem with either accessing Quickflix.
What did you find hard about using it?

That hardly tells me anything. I go to Quickflix app select the programme I want and it plays. How does that make it sucky?

It's badly organised, the icons are small. It doesn't have well structured sub folders for various shows. Honestly, try out the ps3 app or the iPad app and you will see the difference.
