Anyone know if this is possible?

I think it should as the specs show the DVD-RW logo be but nothing in the Menu's or manual about erasing it. So I erased it on the computer.

Then the 380 decided it wasn't formatted. And then nothing in the menu's (or manual) on how you format it that I could find. 

How I wish I'd bought some other brand. Doing this on a Pioneer recorder is just so easy...

I presume you are meaning the DMR-XW380 ?
If so page 6 tells you which discs are supported and page 72 of the manual tells you how to format discs.

Kanjd it's a Panasonic DVD Recorder.

Thanks Bigglz, I found it eventually. Although it was several hours later before the copy started!  That's the trouble when you do things so seldom. But I did trawl the manual (and Funtion menus) for ages without seeing it.  Then had to downsample it.  All to watch in a different room.

If DLNA worked as claimed all this would be unnecessary. But I understand the Commerce Commision are dealing with a false advertising claims of DLNA so Panasonic and their ilk may eventually have to tell us the truth.

DLNA on my BWT720 works OK. Only problem is the very limited formats that can be used makes it useless. I use a media player instead.
