A few months ago I set out to get a new machine to manage all of my video content and manage downloads. The below is a diagram showing roughly how I have set up the server I am using to both manage and play back content. Interested to see what other people use for similar purposes.

Nice setup, mine is similar.

I have an Apple Airport Extreme hard wired to a Synology NAS running CP, SB and SAB.

I then have an ATV2 running XBMC and an HDX-1000 (each in different rooms) pulling media wirelessly off the NAS.

The ATV2 goes into a home theatre before the TV so I can play music off the NAS (controlled by iphone or Android) through the home theatre without the TV being on.

Oh and a logitech remote to control it all.

Couchpotato, sickbeard and SABNZBD are awesome :-)

I decided to go with Plex over XBMC because of the client-server model.

Loving the NYXboard remote too. RF back to the HTPC which is good because the PC doesn't have IR - But also does IR too so can control the TV. Flip it over and it's a keyboard and can be used as a mouse.

The SB, CP and SAB combo is full of awesome.

I've never heard of the NYXboard.....looking it up now.  I use an xray remote control to turn IR into RF.

Yeah plex server is nice but only works on intel synology NAS (mine is ARM).

Never heard of these before, what do they do or what are they used for?

Using IIS to reverse proxy is cool. Gives me the ability to serve the individual apps on their own subdomain on port 80. No need to remember what app is using what port etc, and means I'm only exposing a single port to the Internet.

The router's DNS resolves the domains to the internal IP for local traffic
