[ 15:58:45 ] [ Newcamd:15000 ] Can't decrypt client msg, rejecting! In other words NEWCS starts up & reads your card ok. Then 127.0.0.1 logins but there is a 'disconnect' between Server & Client. I notice you have set Newcamdserver (in NEWCS config) to be 'localhost' but in a post further up you listed your newcamd config as 10.1.1.3 : newcamd:10.1.1.3:15000:1/0100/ffff:xxxx:xxxx:0102030405060708091011121314 Yet from your log the client is: 127.0.0.1 ? Did you change your final newcamd config to be 'localhost' or 127.0.0.1? That's about all I can think of. If your newcamd config is correct (so that is not the problem) try asking for help on 'EuroCardSh____g Forum, or AustechInfo Forum, the guys there are very experienced. Goodluck.

I changed it all to localhost. I don't know where 127.0.0.1 comes from. Would it help to change it to that?

I recheck the local host and changed everything to 127.0.0.1 with the same result. Just FYI - localhost IS 127.0.0.1 known as the loopback address. Question while im here - does the sky cards till have to be put back into the STB?

@tbergman - If both NewCS & Acamd are both on the same system, localhost should be ok. No harm in setting the IP's to be the same though (I think). @eXDee - Thanks for the tip. The "card back into STB" question is asked from time to time, with no one advising that this is now solved. So probably still need to periodically reinsert. I can't comment as my final system is not "there yet" (a very slow works-in-progress).

I was reading an article that some Gigabyte boards have different pin connections to other PC's.

I don't really know much about NewCS as fortunately it just worked first time for me. However having a look back through your posts it does seem as if Newcs is having some trouble with the COM1 connection (ie the 2nd timed line in most of your reports). I have an Intel board and just connected to the MB header no problem but as you say Gigabyte may be different. If you have a spare PCI slot I really think it may be worth getting one of the Sunix serial cards and trying that. Have another read through the discussions in the first couple of pages of the original thread here - http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?ForumId=84&TopicId=31967 Unfortunately they don't say what their problems were exactly but it may help you a bit. Thanks for that Mattv. I've had a look at that thread. Unfortunately, I don't have a spare pci port. I do find it interesting that a serial to USB adaptor seems to work. I'm going to check the wiring in the serial cable, and maybe re-wire it, if need be. Failing that, I'll connect a serial to USB and see how that goes.

Hi TB Sorry for not noticing before, but when I compare your two logs as per below, I see you seem to have taken a step backwards with regards to your COM1 Reader. In your older post you have the Reader doing its thing. In the last post with a log, the Reader on COM1 is failing. Can you take a step back to re-create your setup in the older post? Just delete the PMT file - it does nothing for NZ... Same with the cardclient.conf - this only needs to be one line long - delete all the other crap with # xxxx. The # means comment lines ie they don't do anything. Coming into this a bit late, but it sounds like your getting the card removal error. Try pulling your card out of the reader about 1mm (You'll hear the card detection switch click if you listen carefully). See if you can get it to read then... This is commonly mistaken for issues with the serial port - in actual fact its just NewCS incorrectly reading the card insertion state. Its fixed from 1.66 onwards - but you need to run linux for that.
