What happens when you uninstall it? Does it fix the problem?

Codec packs + Windows 7 = PAIN

You should avoid them if at all possible.

The shark codec pack kinda works - but it still breaks a bunch of stuff...

Windows 7 supports H.264 natively. didn't have to install any codecs for it to work with Freeview|HD or other content I have here. I wouldn't install any third party codec unless for a specific need.

I have uninstalled the codec pack to no effect.
I think it is a registry problem, with wmc not using the right codec

Its probably changed the default decoder - Have a look here:

http://www.hack7mc.com/2009/04/disable-and-replace-ms-dtvdvd-decoder.html

If you understand how to change the registry settings you should be able to change the default decoder back to the Microsoft one.

If your not comfortable with changing the registry - you should try using system restore - and restore to a point before you installed the codec pack. This will depend entirely on whether or not you have a useable restore point saved.

Start-->All Progams-->Accesories-->System Tools-->System Restore

If that doesn't work a rebuild always does the trick...
