Hi all,
I used to appreciate a lot the capability of Media Portal to record several channels simultaneously, but I had to do a full re-install of MP recently (to upgrade to the new 1.2.2) and now I believe this function does not work the same.

I have two TV cards (1x Nova-T and 1x AverMedia DVB-T / DVB-S). The Nova-T has two DVBT tuners, so basically it can access two DVBT transponders, did I get this right? On top of this, comes the AverMedia card with one more DVBT tuner (I do not use the DVB-S).

If I set a recording on TV1 and one on TV2, when I try to add a recording on PRIME it tells me there is a conflict. But TV1 and TV2 can be recorded by the same tuner, right? (as they are on the same transponder?). The way I see it, both TV1 and TV2 can be recorded by (let's say) one of the tuners on the Nova-T, leaving available the other two dvbt tuners installed... but it appears that MP sees things differently...

I recall perfectly that years ago when I first build the HTPC and installed MP, this was the first test I did and I am sure it was recording something like 5 or 6 channels simultaneously (picture quality was quite affected but the recordings were fine - I did just a 5 min test).

Any ideas please?

Hi,
I have scanned for channels on all three cards  as part of the initial setup.
I did not map the channels, is this a necessary step?
Each card knows what channels it can get after the initial scan.

I am quoting from here:
http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_MEDIAPORTAL_1/141_Configuration/TV-Server_Configuration/03_TV_Channels/2_Mapping?highlight=channels+map

"Mappings are automatically created when you scan for channels but it can be useful at times to do manual mappings."

I never manually mapped the channels after the initial scan, but I will give it a try.

Hi,
mapping the channels manually was the solution. For some reason the AverMedia card did not identify all the channels, I am sure this is what created the conflict. Thank you for mentioning the mapping, I will keep this in mind for next time when I have to re-install MP.
