I want to buy a cheap prebuilt htpc, I need one with svideo out put. Dont care what os would prefer windows at least xp. I would build one myself but I dont have the time. Any one know where I can buy prebuilt htpcs?

Why svideo out, do you have a really old tv or projector or something?

I've built a desktop before and that was really quick - a couple of hours once the parts had arrived. (find the parts on PriceSpy.). I haven't done an HTPC before so maybe the software takes longer to sort out. I'm thinking about it though. We build these on a daily basis, and honestly, it only takes about 45 minutes to build one - They are really easy. Playtech ones are OK, but if you have the expertise, you might as well save $100~ and build one yourself.

Can you even still get svideo output on graphics cards these days? You may have to get a 2nd hand one. Computer Repairs Whangarei Remote Support

you used to be able to get composite out video cards, but yeah other option is s-video adapter. but why not just buy a 2nd hand xboc with xbmc prob would cost $50, dont see the point in a nice htpc when ur tv is probably SD. HTPC - Intel i3-2100 / 12GB / 13TB Storage / HD4670 / HVR2200 / Win 7 x64 + MediaPortal 1.3 Final PC - Intel e8600 / 8GB / HD5830 / Win7 x64

I've just upgraded my HTPC and would be interested in selling my old one. Here are the specs: P4 3.0GHz 2GB RAM Radeon HD 3650 graphics card (with s-video out) 40GB Hard drive If you're interested let me know.

Unless there is something that you desperately need the HTPC for and there is no cheaper way of doing it, you will get much better bang-for-your-buck quality and entertainment wise with a decent screen. No point in having content delivery without something decent to watch it on.

If you are willing to pay for a prebuilt HTPC then splash out a bit more and get a TV that will do it justice.
