Anyone here following the development of the Raspberry Pi board? Is a $25 ($35 with Ethernet) ARM based embedded PC and has been posted about a couple of times here already in different forum categories. They've just done a demo of it running XBMC - and very smoothly too, playing a 1080P H264 video: http://www.raspberrypi.org/archives/571 Could this be the ultimate hackable media player? Oh and it has HDMI-CEC capability too apparently... Also I guess once the OS distributions for it mature it could easily be a PVR too with the right tuner hardware and drivers...

I'm looking at it as the next set up from an arduino. I want one but they are still being made in china at the moment.

geez, if these things are as good as they look i might get a few of them, well when they start selling cases with them. only wish it had builtin IR, CEC is great and all but ive found (using the adapter from pulse eight) that most tvs dont actually send enough buttons via CEC to use it properly (eg cant channel up/down for paging, no number buttons etc) www.reven.co.nz

man some cool things look to be coming. theyre talking about powering it through USB, so imagine a device that small, running xbmc, with CEC interface powered via usb. u could strap it to the back of your tv, power it form tvs usb, and use tv remote to control it. so i personally would only have two plugs for my tv, power and ethernet for the raspberry. definitely buying one of these, or similar device that meets those requirements. if only netflix could run on them..... www.reven.co.nz

They support USB Wifi adapters so i am crossing my fingers it may be able to do some sort of streaming.

Now that's what I call cool! You would end up paying more for a box to put it in than the board itself.... This awesome little device just keeps getting better and better as time goes by! Apparently it outperforms the GPU on the iPhone 4S, and "soundly" beats NVIDIA's Tegra 2. You'll be able to do much more with these than what is built into a typically smart TV these days - they are a full Linux capable computer. We've been talking to them a while back about bringing them in once they are available. Shouldn't be too long now. nicegear.co.nz - VoIP, DVB and other Linux compatible hardware

Seems like they are now pushing some Debian images out via torrents, so it looks like they are ramping up for a release very soon. They are still saying that a release will be happening before the end of Feb, so it must be close! :-) EDIT: Oh yeah, here's a link: http://www.raspberrypi.org/archives/645

The Model B board (the better of the two - Ethernet port) is now up for order!! http://www.raspberrypi.org/ The two order sites that they have linked to seem to be taking a hammering, because I can't load either of them. I'll keep trying though.
