webup: Salty any chance you can press them for a pro rata reinstatement of some data to my account in lieu of the Data usage on your2degrees not functioning as it should?

Cry

Well 5 working days after logging a query with 2 degrees support I get a call back to say

'Hi yes you did use the data please keep an eye on your shared data usage online to avoid using up all your allowance'.

Hilarious considering the data usage part of the 2degrees site is not fit for purpose and faulty. ie showing 0mb used even when you use 700mb+.

So keep an eye on your data usage but in fact you cant because our portal doesnt work.

Why is this feature so hard for all of the telco's to have working reliably!?

"You are" = "You're" - Not "Your".  "They are" = "They're" - Not "Their" or "There".  You probably mean "lose" not "loose".  There's no such word as "Alot".

On the internet, wasting time, since '89.

SaltyNZ: I will be bringing that up with the relevant people, believe me. :-)

Well thats great for you that it will hopefully be fixed butnot so great for me who was checking my only mean necessary of how much data was being used and shown incorrect information.

I now have zero data until 4th July and 2degrees response is 'Well you can buy a national data pack and get 100mb for $10'.....Surprised

Hi, I'm sorry about that, but unfortunately I am a core network design engineer, not customer services. This means that although I have the technical means to reimburse you, I am not authorised to make that business decision. I have to leave it in the hands of the customer care team, I'm afraid.

Sorry, I'm not meaning to sound like a dick, but:

You used the data = Yes?
There was no fault on 2Degrees end (other than the usage meter in the portal) = Yes?

If so, why should 2Degrees give you anything? You used the data, full stop. Their software that is used for mobile broadband on their sticks logs data, Android and iPhones log data (and i'm sure any other sort of phone that uses data will also log usage), so even though it's inconvenient, I don't see why you should get free data. Just purchase 100MB and move on...

+1. OP is nit picking. You used the data and it shows in your total data allowance, just because the shared data does not show. You still used the data and 2degrees still showed this. End of story.

The argument is almost as bad as stealing something but because it was not reported to the police you are entitled to it.

Im sorry I dont take anyone seriously who has 'Cool story Bro' in their signature. Are you an adolescent?

With Saltys help yes we worked out my laptop did use the data. Learning curve.

I was just hoping due to the fact that the provided way of monitoring usage through the 2degrees website was malfunctioning they might give me a break and something to tide me over until the 4th.

Worth a try but SteveOn or SteveO feel free to leave your input at the door champ.

All I have to say about this is...I have been with 2Degrees since the day they came out, but have only been a contract customer since the Samsung Galaxy S3 came out, and I am not overly impressed that a credit limit of $100 (over and above my contract amount) was set by default, yet my data went over even more so, and now my account is $150+ on top of my $89/mth, and that was only after 8 days. Goodbye you tube!!

How did you manage that? Did you ignore the low balance warnings you were sent?

It would have been nice if i had been sent some warning messages, but unfortunately nothing!! I'm not saying i didn't use the data, I'm just saying I had no idea I had gone over by so much until I had clocked up 2.5GB...which is double what is on my plan

It's the same as fixed line broadband, it's up to you to manage it. Call *#100#1# simple.

Just to clarify it's *100*4*3# to check your Pay Monthly data balances.  *100*1# is for Prepay connections.

snuu

We'll do our best to let you know when your balance is low, however if you're on a session that takes you over these thresholds you may not receive it until it's too late.

We advise to keep an eye on your balance and check before you start a lengthy data session.

Also if you set up Spend Control you can avoid getting these bill shocks - http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/paymonthly/paying-your-bill/spend-control
