quickymart: So...all the pricing and whatnot will be released tomorrow?



2Degrees announces pricing plans 9am 4th August, the day before the network goes live, as far as I'm aware

15c/txt off-net
2-5c/txt on-net

49-60c/min off-net (remember the MTR deal 2degrees have made with Vodafone..)
30c/min on-net, a rate which may fall after say 5 minutes calling

Down the track,
MMS/PXT - 40c
Pay as you go data, just a fixed low rate similar to the other $1/10mb offers.

The reason that this exists in overseas markets such as the USA and Canada is because they don't use the Calling Party Pays (CPP) pricing model like most other Western countries. This means mobile numbers are local calls and mobile operators don't receive any fees for terminating calls on their network so charge for these. 

The fact we have CPP and operators receive money (MTR) means there exists no logical reason at all why 2 degrees would go down this path.



Ohk, cool. that was my only concern, that and them being cheaper than vodafone. But we will find out tuesday hopefully

They won't charge to recieve calls/text, i'dlove to see the reaction to that in this market.

CJPhoto: $1/10mb for data (this isnt their selling point in the early days so they wont try to compete there.


thats a good point all there advertising has been about making it easier to call people so i wouldn't be surprised if there txt and data prices where the same and just the calls cheaper

My understanding is that 2 degrees will actually be paying Vodafone for all inbound traffic while roaming on the Vodafone network. This will obviously be absorbed by the MTR costs that 2 degrees will be receiving for the inbound traffic.

One can presume that the price 2 degrees are paying Vodafone is less than the inbound MTR revenue.
